I think yesterday highlighted that a degree of freedom was always needed in the ranks. I think it highlights the basics of football, backrowers run at centres and halves, props hit up and look to either secure a dominant ruck for the next raid or to get a ball onto someone in a better position before or through the ruck, halves set their backlines with a bit more depth and evaluate when its on. Maybe the defensive line could have hit with more vigour/moved up quicker if you want to equate it to a top 4 team, but essentially the game plan was basic yet offered different points of attack. Ivan made a comment in the press during the week that the team's decision to get Stacey to chip to Manu repetitively was because it at least had a chance of succeeding, well here they showed that there's more to it than that.
The performance of Moon I think was the game changer. And yes, for once, it was fun to see the end of a game and know that you just watched football like the way you always loved the Warriors to play football. Maybe that brand doesn't get props getting 200m and backrowers 50 tackles, maybe it doesn't get halfbacks with perfect completions and no errors, but maybe it re-emphasises that we are who we are and are good at what we can do and with slight modifications but certainly not overhauls we can be extremely damaging.
