Flan(n)o’s first and only statement about Hunt should be this:

“Ben is contracted to the club for the next two years. He will play wherever I tell him to and should be grateful for the opportunity. If he proves himself worthy, he will retain the captaincy”.
Maybe a good thought, but, for good or bad, I'm pretty sure this method isn't in the textbook for "Man Management" these days

Interesting comment today from a Bunnies supporter about Flanno.
By announcing the signing himself, before the club did, he is stamping his authority over the BOD.
Basically saying he is in charge.
It might seem that way with a small gesture like that but the opposite is true.

Our BOD were put under pressure in their negotiations with Ryles who reportedly wanted real change and control over the club, so as a result they've gone with the desperado twice banned coach that no other club wanting a head coach in recent times has wanted a bar of.

Our BOD are happy because they've got another fall guy under the thumb and meanwhile Flanno is happily convincing himself that he is calling all the shots at the club.

Both parties are happy for now, but you can be 99% confident there will be no substantial changes to our front office in terms of adding an experienced general manager of football or a competent head of recruitment. Overall this will show that our self serving nepotistic board are still well in control of things.

He has. To play 7. Not sure about the grateful bit though
I think Flanno is more grateful ATM that he has been given another opportunity
Let him get his feet under the desk before thumping the table

You’ve got one on significantly less than Hunt. Wanna trade contacts?
Agree better 7 but not sure it is significantly less paid.
And he can hardly train full throttle these days. More injury prone than Ben

Don’t mean to rain on the recruitment parade, but…

Does anyone else remember when Flanno signed Dugan to a four year, $800k contract?

SBD ‘members.
Yep huge mistake to supposedly play fullback as was Moylan
Cant get em all right. His good ones outweigh the bad meanwhile but back in dragonland for the past 10 years...geez aint be too many good

Mate it is great to be optimistic about the new coach, in hope that it will bring about change.

I'm sure our BOD would be very pleased with themselves as it seems to have done the trick and alleviated the pressure that was on them a few weeks back now. Even our posters on here haven't mentioned anything about the need for both a reputable GM and Head of recruitment since the appointment of Flanagan.

I think you will fine Flanagan will be the de facto GM/ Recruitment officer.

I agree. There’s a grief relief factor right now. I hope the message re the the overhaul of the footy dept has finally got through. I think it probably has, considering that they were apparently keen to give that authority to Ryles.

No I wont rest until they announce a new head of recruitment / pathways and a GM (e.g. people on here were calling for a Brown / Richo combo)
Flanno is 1 member that is part of all that leadership but I do not want Haran in a senior leader position especially covering 2 roles as he does now ineffectively
I am not sure the Millward is the right person leading Junior pathways either.

I would also like to see a new head of football and Brown as Recruitment/pathways manager.

Who would you like to see as head of football?

Richo or someone from similar standing who is Ok to move around. Poach one of the good un's with $$$$$. Someone like Ponissi but he wont leave Melb.
So I would look at Richo, Donaghy, Dino or Solly
1 of those 4 would do me and Richo is likely now available. Dont know if he gets on with Flanno

Listened to Flann on 2gb and interestingly he said that he has already acquired staff for next year. When asked to name them he said he couldn't because they are currently working for other clubs.

Seems to be actively working on next year already which is a great sign.

Also, when asked, Flanno said he reported to the CEO, he confirmed that committees are still in place but was firm at the end of the day it was his decision. This make one think what is Harran responsible for and who does he report too?
