My sentiments as well.I know it sounds a bit harsh, but the best way for the Dragons to proceed is go with the fact he is not coming back and if he does no matter what the timeframe it will be a huge bonus. I'm sure from what I have read about his illness all the doctors and specialists will be advising against playing a high contact sport like the NRL, be it any contact sport. It would be really bad for the Dragons to eventually risk this guys life unless its 100% guaranteed he will be able to handle it. He's only still young and has a life to look forward to. All my best wishes to him in whatever he does.
I don't think the Dragons have any intention of putting Cody at further risk, or at least that's what I took out of Webb's podcast. It sounded more to me like they didn't want to deny him the opportunity of potentially coming back, even though a comeback was unlikely. If there really is no hope of Cody coming back, it may be better that he comes to that conclusion himself, rather than the Dragons crushing his hopes at a time when he is still trying to deal with a life-changing illness.I know it sounds a bit harsh, but the best way for the Dragons to proceed is go with the fact he is not coming back and if he does no matter what the timeframe it will be a huge bonus. Well by the sounds of what has been said by several of you guys who know of or has family with this illness, it doesn't look promising for a return to footy by Cody. What Cody has is a pretty serious illness. Unfortunately I cannot see the poor kid coming back in 2024 if at all. I really hope I am wrong but I know 2 people with that type of illness and the last thing I can see them doing is any form of sports apart from darts or fishing. Are the considered sports?
My son was 14when he was diagnosed with Ulcerative Cholitis. For a year they diagnosed IBS and he almost died. 2yrs of surgeries had to take a huge emotional toll on him but he has made it through. The sad thing is the people I know that have this type of illness got it in their late 30's, early 40's so for poor Cody to get this at such a young age is terrible and I really feel for this poor kid.
That is great news that he made it through ok. Poor kid to get it at 14. wowMy son was 14when he was diagnosed with Ulcerative Cholitis. For a year they diagnosed IBS and he almost died. 2yrs of surgeries had to take a huge emotional toll on him but he has made it through.

Great news on several frontsThe Dragons have also extended Cody Ramsey for 2025 in a deal that doesn’t count towards the club’s salary cap or take up a top-30 spot as he recovers from a career-threatening bowel condition.

the NRL moves about as quickly as the Court systemWas commenting on the JA version of this thread.. I think the article just casually mentioned the news from late 2023 where we signed Ramsey for 2025 in a good PR piece.. but nothing has changed on the 2024 front.. we are still waiting confirmation that we can drop him out of our 30 (thats my understanding).
It really is sad to see that Cody has been ruled out for 2024. I wonder if he will ever be able to play again as it appears that infections keep recurring requiring more treatment? He has been in and out of hospital quite a lot but is a lot better now says Flanno.Cody Ramsey news: St George Illawarra Dragons fullback ruled out for the 2024 NRL season
