Are these up for renewal in 2013 as well?
We got well dudded in the last deal where Telstra got naming rights AND internet/mobile covg for a mere $10mill a year (1/2 of what the AFL got for its naming rights and internet, $10mill Toyota, $10mill Telstra).

We should be in for a nice windfall with naming rights alone being worth $10mill+ a year and then whatever Telstra are willing to pay for internet and mobile phone rights. They paid $31mill a year for afl!

The big issue with the naming rights sponsor I have is their inclusion on the NRL logo. I'd rather see what happened in 2003 (?) where "Telstra Premiership" was above the NRL logo, rather than incorporated into it as we have seen since.

I'd be hitting up companies like ANZ that are pushing beyond Australia. ANZ now runs alot of the banks in the Pacific Islands, is number one in New Zealand and is very East Coast focused in Australia - pretty much the same spread as rugby league.

A company like Telstra only benefits in Australia. A company like ANZ would benefit across the region.

Agreed and i cant think of another league which incorporates it's sponsors name onto it's logo (apart from super league) it just asinine

Sames as the Serie A in Italy, one of the biggest leagues in the world. Notice there isn't even any attempt to match colours etc.

With the amount of $$ that deal is worth, I wouldn't bother with matching colours etc.

Looks like the theory for everyone's logo whinge has just been tossed out the window.

FWIW I'd prefer to see Telstra keep the rights provided they sunk a few more $$ into it.

It's my understanding the internet/digital rights would be up for sale as part of the broadcast deal as of next year.

I would like an international company like Sony/Apple get the naming rights.Or Toyota.
Bigger profile,better the perception.

Telstra the mobile/internet rights provided they pay the proper price.

Telstra will probably have first option to make a proposal. Balls in Gallops court though...should fetch a pretty penny. Not sure when its up for renegotiation but ideally it would be done after the TV deal
