The point is he was poached as a player who was certainly already a quality player. He played Test footy in 2009 FFS. Which is not a problem, you simply don't get an elite prop like JWH or Klemmer unless you invest a shitload of cash in them as a junior. But don't pretend he was just another NYC schmuck who was picked up for peanuts.

The Roosters "buy" more players than most clubs. l don't see that as a criticism like some seem to, it's a good approach. Especially when your own catchment is relatively small....it becomes a necessity. What I don't understand is why some Roosters fans get so offended by the implication that they do buy a lot of players....who cares?

I'd be interested to see if this is true. We certainly haven't gone on anything you could call a signing spree at first grade level in recent years.
The most notable was the 2013 pre-season where we picked up Jennings, Maloney, and SBW.
The senior core of our team - Pearce, Friend, JWH, Cordner, Aubusson, Guerra, (and SKD) all made their FG debut with the club, as far back as 2007 for some of them. Plus blokes like RTS who are now elsewhere.
Aside from them, most of our big names have been on the outer for various reasons at their previous club (Jennings, Maloney, Keary) or completely unsigned (Carney, Ferguson).

Tedesco is the biggest "poach" I can think of since Mason and O'Meley way back in 2008.

Why do Roosters fans get offended? Because every club in the NRL has poached as many, if not more, big names as us, and thrown stupid money at juniors, yet we're the ones who get bagged for it.
Roosters invest as much into junior reps and NYC as any other club and a lot more than some, I'd hazard a guess. Not having a large catchment means we scout harder in NZ, country QLD and NSW.

If calling people out on their pettiness because their club goes on poaching raids and still can't win shit is offended, then consider me triggered.

I didn't need to read the debate to realise that you're making yourself out like a tool, you're doing it on your own. Hence why there's a few posters who have more knowledge on the situation calling you out on it

I don't know if you watch footy or not but we've played Brisbane and Dragons, two inform top 4 teams in the 2 games he's been gone lol while Moses has played against Raiders, Souffs and Warriors at his new team. I wonder who's gonna have the better record

So now you've admitted to not caring about the discussion, but also not even reading it before calling me a genius.

Your opinion is invalid.

And who cares who you've played compared to who the Eels have played?

As I said, I am sure Moses is enjoying playing for his new club.

I'd call that list an extremely accurate, if not limited assessment of who we are dealing with here.

How lovely. It's funny to see that you get so upset about facts LOL.

Please, carry on with the meltdown.

I realize you are a troll however the Tigers have played 2 top 4 sides away whilst also missing their halfback.

The Eels have played 3 home games in a row against teams outside the 8.

That record is to be expected

And as above, what's that got to do with my opinion that Moses would be enjoying himself at his new club?

Are you suggesting that he should not be happy about leaving a losing situation, playing for a team with no chance of making the finals to going to a club that is on the rise and hoping to play finals football?

And I'm apparently the troll.

Geez.

Parra are a team on the rise? Since when

They haven't even made the finals since 2009 and it's not even a guarantee they will this year lol

The addition of Moses is all they've got, that'll help them

Oh perhaps you missed the part where I said that your opinion is invalid, since you don't care about discussing or reading the topic, and you only enter to troll and call people offensive terms.

Parra have quality across the park, and will play finals football this season, unlike Wests / Balmain / Whatever they're called this week.

i agree with some of your post however the 2 in bold had played first grade elsewhere prior to the roosters. pearce and cordner were highly rated juniours that you outbid multiple other clubs for

also maloney was hardly on the outer at the warriors

It's called depth, you know since squads are extended to 30 but I'm sure you're happy with your Mitchell "one million" Moses signing lol

those blokes are likely starters for your mob, fonua is for sure. he'd be lucky to play wenty for us

No one said they weren't highly rated - why would anyone purposely sign nuffies? Quality over quantity. And outbidding is not poaching.
And hardly unique to the Roosters, how much did Tigers pay for Suli?

Maloney was leaving for Sydney whether it was us or not.

Guerra debuted for the Roosters.

so much average getting signed

We're moving onto the joint venture era, where newly created clubs do things a little differently.

Firstly, you get rid of the club captain.

You don't replace that person with anyone of note. She'll be right.

Then you replace your 5/8 of the future, who you've spent time and money developing for a never has been 5/8 who only played origin because of 'club combos'.

Then you replace your international and SOO prop with a couple of kiwis who are older.

And most importantly you replace your international and SOO fullback with a reserve grade fullback / prop forward.

Sprinkle in some reserve grade rejects from other clubs and you're good to go!

One thing to note, the Magpies? will be great at kicking things next season, whether it's chairs or heads.

Quality across the park Lel

I read Corey Normans name and that's it. And he's not even a rep player

I rate parramatta as the least successful team of the modern era. 2 wooden spoons in a row is no easy feat

Maybe if we could use the goosters 15 million dollar cap we'd be ok

LOL!

Back to square one.

Where angry, upset fans of failed (in more ways than one) joint venture clubs accuse other clubs of rorting the salary cap because they fail at recruitment and retention.

I can't constructively argue with someone who genuinely thinks Pearce will be in the Aussie squad over Cooper Cronk lol
