Thanks mate, however the score was actually 28 to 20.

Also Balmain were lucky to achieve that scoreline as were allowed a try when the ball wasn't grounded, and Newtown had several opportunities to score further tries however were unlucky and unable to complete them by minor handling errors rather than good Balmain defence.

It was a shame to see Dean LODER wearing the Balmain jersey. He set up several tries and scored a good one for them also. A shame we were unable to hang onto him, as I think he will be a player of the future.

I was told that Luke HESSION is trying out for Balmain. Is this true. I could not recognise him yesterday in their side. Did he play for them against us????

He would be a great loss as is a tackling machine that we could really do with keeping. Especially in the side as it now is.

How injured is Ben COOK, will he be playing against Norths for the opener of the Frank HYDE cup ?.

All the new players look very good, and it was a promising indication of what this season may hold for the Jets.

Alfie scored two tries and was awesome as usual, however Andrew LE BRETON was the standout player by a mile, scoring two tries and was in everything.

He looked like he injured his leg in the second half, hope he's alright. He had an outstanding game.

Good pictures mate.

Yeah Alf got onto a ball that was dropped by the opposition and kicked it several times along the ground whilst sprinting towards the Balmain tryline. He was neck and neck with an opposition player however it really looked like he was going to beat him, and the ball was going to bounce up into his hands.

A shame in the end, but very exciting stuff at the time. Alf just has that nack of making a try opportunity from nothing. He looks like he's shed a few kilos this season too. Can't wait for the real season to begin.

Seven Newtown tries yesterday and many more to come.

I know it was just a trial however if goals were all kicked to the seven tries, we would have scored 42 points. Which is definately a high score for a Newtown team going off past performances.

Looks promising. :) :) :)

I was impressed by the day.

On the playing side the PL boys impressed. Lots of cohesion and the side looks more balanced than last year. The JBC team was mainly reggies. That'll make Trevor Schodel's cuts a little easier. Still, for our Reggies to get closer to Ryde than ouyr normal JBC team is a good sign. I won't get cocky. You can't read too much into trials.

Not much of a crowd but what do you expect with all that heat and no flyers in the pubs. Still, the food outlets did a roaring trade of cold beverages.

And the Frenzal Rhomb version of our club song, BRILLIANT!!!

true about the Frenzal cover bluebag.
sounds good. cant wait to hear the final cut.
hopefully they'll be able to throw it in to a few of their sets whilst touring the world to offer the Jets further exposure.
how bout a live performance at Henson bluebag?
would go down great guns with the local muso community!

I sorry I missed a cracking game, I was on my way back from the UK. The best part of the trip was seeing a girl in Bangkok with a Jets T-shirt on! We are taking over the world! Suppose George W. will try and kill all of off!!!!

The Balmain administrators have found a way to report the result in a favourable light. This week's edition of the Weekly Times states that Balmain thrashed Newtown 60-30. It appears that they have added the scores of both games together!

That is a creative way of looking at things, I must remember that one.

So at St Mary's last year we would've lost by 100. I think we better stick to the truth.
