I am happy with Widdop and Marshall as our halves for the next 3 years. Both building up to a good halves combo.

Cronk has had Cam Smith and Slater by his side and Thurston in QLD all his career, of course he will perform well. Cronk is a quality player but having a future immortal in Cam Smith next to you makes it a hell of a lot easier. Benji with Scott Prince was unplayable. Then when Prince departed he had a new half each season if not each month which made it hard. Benji has achieved all he can. I would love for these 2 (Benji and Widdop) to stick together for some time.

I don't know why you bother either. For every highlight of Widdop's from last season, I can provide 3 from Benji. I'm also happy for the two of them to be the halves for the next 2 or 3 years but IMO, if one of them is to be shown the door, it will be and should be Widdop, not Benji.

Next season with a stronger forward pack I'm looking forward to Widdop consistently taking the ball to the line and creating trouble for enemy defences with his passing, running or preferably both. I won't hold my breath for it to happen but if it does I will gladly admit I was wrong.

And yet again, you make it about Benji. Vasilevsky the de-railer. But I suppose it is your right to ignore all evidence to the contrary of your opinion. Widdop has on a number of occasions been a match winner for us. Enjoy your ignorance.

I love Widdop. I hope he plays out his career with us. He's only going to get better.

Agree and the guy is a real competitor, steps up in the big games too. There wouldn't be many if any 5/8's I'd want to replace him with....

Homie, please relax a little. I always make it about Benji because I only ever criticize Widdop in reply to homies saying Benji should be shown the door rather than Widdop. Just like thgis thread where homies were saying Cronk was going to be signed and Benji shown the door.

Can't we just agree that this coming season with the stronger forward pack both Benji and Widdop should cause much more trouble for enemy defences by taking the ball to the line and causing enemy defences trouble with passing, running or preferably both?

In the first half of last season, Widdops short kicking game was outstanding. He set up several tries and a very large number of turnovers. It's not enough as enemy defences came to expect it.

My opinion I am wrapped to have both Benji and Gareth. Sensational players. Why have an aging Cooper Cronk when you have Benji Marshall 2 years younger.

Benji is still elusive and has that X factor. Cooper is a quality player who has had some of the greatest in the modern game around him all his career. Definitely not under the same game focus by opposition teams as Benji.

Gareth is pure class. Can kick, break the line, tackle and hey run out 80 metre try's.

Let's try and keep both. Next season these guys will have Lafai, Dugan ,Matautia fai fai loa, happy days to throw to. Lastly, I work with a Roosters tragic who believes that Milne will be in 1 st grade before we know it.

I dont think Cronk is better than Benji....i think Cronk has had better players around him in his career though....which help make him look better.

BENJI > CRONK

Just imagine if Benji was a Queensland Origin player.

People keep confusing two very different issues.

Cronk is a half back

Marshall is a 5/8

Everyone goes back to Benji's stellar performances at Balmain so ask yourself what position did he play when he was at his best: Answer 5/8

So why would you not want the current Australian test half who is so good that they pick Thurston at 5/8 as against a top quality 5/8 playing totally out of position?

Get Cronk who other than Thurston is in the top 2 halves in the world and then have the argument as to whether Benji should play 5/8 or not.

If Benji at 5/8 is the best option then go that way but if he is not the best option at 5/8 why should that preclude you from buying Cronk?
