For anyone holidaying in the south west in the last week of August, can I let you know about the Cornwall vs Devon Rugby League game scheduled for August 24th?

It’s the second annual encounter between these great Westcountry rivals, and will be played at the Mennaye Ground, home of Championship club Cornish Pirates. It would be brilliant for the game if we can produce a good crowd for the 6.30pm kickoff.

Unlikely to be happening in the forseeable future, the game is still in its infancy down there although the people involved seem to be pretty enthusiastic and well organized so hopefully we'll see some growth.

Was looking at a Pirates forum today and it seemed the Cornish like there League or give it respect.
Maybe the RFL should of past Wales and just hit Cornwall.

The population of Cornwall is tiny with only small towns and minor roads in the county. There are bigger priorities with regards to expansion than Cornwall.

Rugby Union in Cornwall reminds me of Rugby League in Cumbria as both are popular but the area is so spread out that it could only support semi-pro and amateur sport.
Saying that before club Rugby Union got big in England, it was the Cornish County team that could get big crowds for there game.
