Could Alan Smith cut it in Spain or Italy?

Alan Smith has said he would like to move to Inter, Juventus or Valencia next season.

If he went and did well it would significantly enhance his career and that for England dramatically. However, AFAIK he isnt the main target for these three clubs, and he would be going and playing in a country where he doesnt speak the language and there is the chance of home sickness and may opt out in January if that is the case (remember when Robbie Keane joined Inter).

So I would be surprised if he did move aboard and he is likely to stay in England.

Thoughts?

At times when he wasn't able to break down the defence, Alan played very erratic and foolish. He turned the ball over constantly. I guess we could give him the benefit of the doubt playing in such a hopeless Leeds outfit, but even still we should recognise that if you're going to get frustrated with English defence, there's no way you're going to have an enjoyable time in Italy.

He could go ok in Spain, although at least in my opinion he'd be better off staying in England. His style of play is more accustomed to the Premier League. If he goes to Italy and goes well, more power to him. I couldn't see it happening though...?

No, I don't think he could cut it. Alan is very much an all-action player, and his style of play wouldn't be suited to the passing nature of Italian Football.
I think his best bet is to stay in England, and go to the team that offers the most, even if it is Man Utd.

Well as someone who has watched every single game Smudge has played for Leeds Utd, home and away, I can state that he would be a success in Italy or wherever he chooses to go. He has a will to win and succeed that is all to rare in todays game.

And for anyone who doubts if he could do well against Italian sides I suggest you sit down and watch a video of his performance against Lazio, away, in the CL. He made the likes of Nesta look a little bit silly that night.

I believe Alan has what it takes, to astablish himself as a top player out of the Premier League.
Where ever he goes, I hope he does well.
You'll be missed lot's and we'll miss all the talent and hard work you put into making us the club we once were (champions of europe  )
I hope you can get that England shirt you deserve, I know this season it has bene un-fair as you have been judged and stolen a England shirt for Euro 2004 because of the Relegation of OUR beloved Leeds.

I can't blame Alan for wanting to leave England, I know Inter Milan has been intreste din his signing (source) Smudge him self.
I can't actually see him going to play for Man U or Liverpool.

Can't wait to see the day you'll be playing in White again!!

Marching on Together!!!!!!!
