Coulthard consipiracy theories

David Coulthard has come out and citised the F1A for their decision to stop the race after they crash off the grid.
Coulthard thinks that there was enough time to clean up the track while the cars went round behind the safety car as a slowed pace. He then went on to suggest that the decision was made because Michael Schumacher was out of the race after a the nasty start. Couthard said: 'If one was cynical, one would say the race was restarted because (Championship leader) Michael (Schumacher) was out (of the race) in front of his home crowd'. The comments aren't surprising from a driver that has never known when its time to shut up.
The F1A are adament that the track was not able to be cleaned up in time. There was too much debris for ordinary brooms to handle. Machines were needed and once the race was stopped they were used. It took 15 mins in the end to clean up the track.
Couthard always likes to open his mouth when things don't go his way, hes even prone to hand gestures (yes Michael hasn't forgot your disgraceful display of sportsmanship).
Coulthard is now feeling the heat as he is falling behind. Coulthard has shown that he doesn't have the car of the mental determination to win this championship.

I disagree with you about Coulthard not having the mind set to win. The problem is his cars reliability. Of cource your not going to be to happy after exiting a race in circumstances that you can't control.

I missed the initial start of the race because Le Tour De France was still going so I can't really coment to much on the incident. How ever, some of the rules seem to be a bit awkward. A car fails on the grid, if it gets restarted, it starts from the back, or if it fails, race over and no replacement car. Yet Schumacher did get to restart the race in a different car. It seems like a bit of a contradiction by the way of the authorities.

The German Gran Prix was a fizzer due to the way the cars couldn't handle the demands of the circuit. Dissapointing to see Montoya's race ending in such a way after such a great race.

The two failing fuelings are of concern. Especially considering the teams have to use a certain type made by a certain company. The failures didn't effect the overall result, but must be rectified. To happen to two teams in the one race is an absolute joke.

I went to bed after half the cars were eleminated and positions one, two and three were all but wrapped up. The makings of a great race are there with a three way top tierd competition between Williams, Ferari and Merclaran and a second tier feturing Prost, Jaguar, Bar and Jordan. There is going to be an absolutely fantastic race this season, it's just to manycars continue to fail.

Saint, Coulthard does lack the mental toughness IMO. Hes gone missing in action recently, there is no doubt over his cars unreliability and that has cost hima serious shot at the title but hes had a few oppotunities recently and failed to take them instead letting Ralf Schumacher take the glory. Ralf has managed to get in between the Ferrari and McLaren and Schmacher has used his "mental toughness" to be on the right side. Please tell me saint where Coulthard has been for the last couple of years with a car that has always been faster than the ferrari?

Coulthard shot his mouth off, plain and simple, if the race is red flaged Schumacher is able to get in his backup car and have another crack. If his car fails on the formation lap he also has this right. Those are the rules, the race was red flaged and rightly so, it took 15 mins to clean up the track and i don't think it takes 15 mins to go around the safety car for 1 lap on Hockenhiem. All he did was have a shot at officials and accused them of conspiracy, it shows the measure of the man.

I don't think you can blame it on the cars not being able to handle the German circuit, if you take a look back to last year it was quite a competitive race.
The fuelings need to be looked at as well as the new starting mechanism. McLaren has tested theirs 180(?) odd times, its failed 3 times and 2 of those times were in an actual race. Theres a few problems and technology always has its early glitches but hopefully the creases will be ironed out for next season.

There really is potential for great racing and next year will produce it. Williams have stepped up to the plate with Ferrari and McLaren still remaining very dominant. I think Michelin coming into F1 has added a whole new dimension and really adds to the drama as Williams went with them this year. Ferrari and McLaren both stayed with the safe option of Bridgestone.
Toyota are into the comp next year and hopefully will bring a very competitive car with them, i think they will be very competitive and may challenge the top cars a few times. It will really be a great battle with Jordan, BAR, Sauber, Jaguar and the toyota all battling it out. Who ever said the only action in formula 1 is the first corner is kidding themselves.

2002 will be one of the closest years ever but look for that Ferrari to rein surpreme ;).
