Anyone recommend / know any good covers albums with assorted artists doing the honours ?

Probably prefer Australian and/or 80's artists as the original artist.

Just heard a few covers lately and would like to sample a few more.

There was a Midnight Oils one from a while back, The Power and the Passion - I have heard a few songs, including Shihad doing Kosciusko... not bad!

There is also one called "She Will Have Her Way" where female artists cover Split Enz, Crowded House and other Finn Brothers songs.

Twisted Willie; A tribute to Willie Nelson

Undone: An Australian Tribute to Duran Duran ( the Living end's cover of Girls On Film is awesome!)

'He Will Have His Way'

Similar to 'She Will Have Her Way', it's a male cover album of Finn brothers songs from their entire catalogue. Easily the best of the recent Finn cover albums imo.

A local metal musician has been making a tribute album to some aus rock classics, it wont be released until mid way through this year from what I understand. Some of the tracks include great southern land, beds are burning, dont change and nice boys.

What I have heard so far sounds pretty bloody good, they did a video diary which is on youtube. Album will be available through local label http://www.quarterpiperecords.com/

Here is a sample of great southern land

See if it tickles your fancy.

mate...I am a late comer to the tatts.
No idea how I missed them growing up. I spent a year travelling oz in a band with a bandmate who was obsessed with them.

I really think they are one of Australia's most under rated bands.

They should have been as big as ACDC.

Lots of the songs lyrics have dated badly .. e.g.

stuck on you

My babe said she won't be home tonight
Says she's got a lover well, that's alright
Hey little schoolgirl, won't you come home with me
We'll drink some Coca Cola, and watch my color t.v.

Yeah, sing it??

Hey babe I'm stuck on you
Hey babe I'm stuck like glue
Hey babe you know I'm stuck on you stuck on you
Like a Rose Tattoo

I had a colored parrot, but it made me cry
I just forgot to feed it, and the little bugger died
I had a fish named Sam, he lived in bowl
I heated up the water, so he wouldn't get cold

Now he's gone, now he's gone

Hey babe I'm stuck on you
And hey babe I'm stuck like glue
Hey babe I'm stuck on you stuck on you
Like a Rose Tattoo, yeah, yeah yeah

Oh babe, stuck on you
Oh babe, I'm stuck on stuck on you

??? I love you true
Hey babe, you know
You know you got me stuck like glue
Stuck on, stuck on, stuck on you

While I am sure in its day it was harmless..I think it is now called ""grooming".

anyway .I don't mind that version of Nice boys...fairly true.

I can't stand Iva Davies.
