Another tough day at the office. I thought we rallied well after the first 2 tries to get back in it but we just had nothing in attack and all the defending caught up with us at the end.

The last 3 weeks have been a sobering experience but unfortunately due to the talent we have lost and the talent on the sidelines we are in a rebuilding phase now. Niko, Jacko, Latrell, Napa, Evans etc. are getting the same harsh lessons as Pearce, Boyd, JWH, Guerra, SKD etc. got in the 09-12 period.

The fair weather fans are already out on FB asking for Robbo's head. He will get us through this and we will be competitive again soon, although making the 8 would be a massive effort from here. The huddle at the end was stirring stuff, I certainly don't think this is a team who has lost faith in the coach or with each other, they are just struggling at the moment.

The positive is the draw softens for us a bit now and we have a 9 day turnaround. I really hope SKD is fit and the boys get up for his 200th, he deserves a win and a try or 2

1 Friend ( I know he made a horrible error prior to half time but he tackled himself to a stand still and tried a little bit too hard to make a game changing play.

I will give an honourable mention to the debutant Frei (or frey or however you spell it). I though he acquitted himself admirably in the toughest of circumstances and could be a good find.

Too many young blokes making too many school boy mistakes. The schedule didn't help us, giving us only 3 days to prepare for a match up there, but at the moment I can't help but feel our side looks quite unfit; they're being walked through by most forward packs of any note and our on-line defence is atrocious. FFS we've conceded over 100 points in 3 matches, so I don't know if we'll be hearing about our "Bondi wall" for a while.

The number of off-field issues and injuries really need to be kept in mind through all this though. People calling for Robbo's head have got no idea - he's taken us to a premiership and got us topping the minor premiership 3 years running. Once our personnel issues are less severe we'll be more competitive

wow... we didn't get off the bus for the first 10 min, fight our way back and then poor old Jake trying his guts out puts one out on the full.

how bad is our kicking game?.. soooo many bad kicks, we had Henderson and frye kicking for f**ks sake! Hastings needs to step up his game here a bit and take some responsibility.

also is anyone else watching Guerra closely?... seems very ineffectual in attack. with the players we have out he's really the most experienced player in the pack besides Moa and he's not leading from the front by a long way.

the pack is standing up for the most part but our attack just looks lost. i'm sure training with fergo at fullback all preseason and losing Pearce to his bullshit suspension hasn't helped

Having only 41% possession for the whole game meant one thing, our boys would get tired. This time of year it is not only hot in Townsville, it is humid, and in an athletic contest it is the high humidity which is worse. Hence is it any wonder our guys looked tired when they wound up making 432 tackles to the Cowboys 285.

RoosTahs, that is not them being unfit, it is merely fatigue which comes from doing that much defence in those conditions, which are exacerbated by lowering the interchange and the injury to Copley in the first half. You only had to notice Latrell Mitchell in the first half when he was out on the wing, he was run into the ground.

Also the losses are effecting the boys confidence. Losing like this can drain away your confidence, and I think it is effecting Guerra the most. As the most experienced players in the pack, he probably feels he needs to lead the way more, and when it does not come off like he wants, it just makes him worse.

I'll add my 3-2-1 later as I need to mull it over a bit more.

Fair points. But I've been dismayed at our intensity in defence in the early stages of games in particular lately. Like the match against Souffs, we effectively rolled over for two fairly basic tries in the first 10 minutes last night.

Fatigue certainly shouldn't have been an issue at that point, but our boys just don't look up to it at the moment.

You're right that the possession problem is clearly hurting us, and that goes back to our young halves not controlling field position well, as well as the amount of ball we're dropping.

We look underdone, whether by design or circumstances we are not playing at the same intensity as the opposition. I'm expecting more blow outs until midway through 2016 and then showing steady signs of improvement over the second half.

Hard to add to what's already been said.

I think it was Horrie who said that we fans need to adjust our expectations in the V's Canberra thread and I couldn't help thinking about that during last night's game. I'm not upset anymore such is the lack of experience in this young side. It's like getting upset with my 11 year old if she can explain Newton's universal laws of gravitation. Give 'em time.

I thought we were a little unlucky in the first two tries and the try on the stroke of half time killed us.

Bgoodorgoodatit, Guerra's form is worrying me too. SKD seems to be our best forward at he moment!

Anyway, I've written the season off and I'm hoping to see progress towards the back end of the season to carry into 2017. Robbo's gonna need all his skills to keep the boys' spirits up.

Same stuff for three weeks in a row now. Can't see anything changing unless we get JWH, Pearce, Cordner, Jenings, RTS and Jennings back for next week.

Guys (I'm not a Roosters fan, but would like to know) any updates on Henderson? Poor guy that's as horrific a sporting injury you'll ever see, yet he took it like such a man, good on him. Always liked him as a player and really hope this isn't the end of his career.

It's a shame no-one even seems to care though, a stark contrast to Sam Burgess.

Well I've finished pondering. For mine -

3 points: Shaun Kenny-Dowell.
2 points: Sio Siua Taukeiaho.
1 point: Jake Friend.

Also, langpark, no word on how bad Henderson is. I dare say we'll hear something via the club's website either later today or tomorrow.

Cheers, I hope so. I checked the website and the facebook page, nothing so far.

The upside of the brutal anal rape that JT & Taumololo gave us is that you learn infinitely more from a loss than a win..

The 5 day turnaround was a killer for our kids..

These lessons that the boys are learning ATM will prove invaluable in their development..

Cordner's edge defense is what we are missing the most..

This 8 week period without our leadership group is half over as of next Monday..

Go Easts..

So far our results have been the result of an appalling schedule meeting abysmal retention and awful injuries

Firstly the schedule
A trip to England and back - that takes about two weeks for a normal person to recover from purely from a sleep pattern pov let alone getying back into a proper training session

Then add back to back 35 degrees plus games followed by a 5 day turn around to Townsville

In that game against the Raiders there were backline players who couldn't even walk after 20 minutes. They were f**king shattered

Going to Townsville 5 days later was a joke

As for retention we lose Maloney trying to retain RTS and then lose RTS anyway. So while we're at it we give Jennings away. What the f**k were we thinking there?

Add to that we lose Pearce to stupidity and JWH and Cords to injury

You take JT out of the Cowboys and they lose. Take Matt Scott, Lachlan Coote, Taumalolo etc out of their team and they'd lose every game too

We are struggling and there's a perfect storm of everything going wrong at the same time that's caused it

Something needs to change and soon

Indeed, I hope Hendo's okay.

He is 32 so the road to recovery is not going to be easy and he's not a massive star so the big bucks won't be spent on him to try and get to play again.

I suppose that's the way it is though. I wish him all the best.

That would be ok if that's all it was, but I fear for much worse. That was right up there with Yow Yeh's injury almost.

What Lambretta posted was accurate as it sums up the following from the club's website -

Injury Report | Round 3
Mon 21st March, 05:30PM

Sydney Roosters players Ian Henderson and Dale Copley sustained injuries in the Club's Round 3 match against the North Queensland Cowboys last Thursday night.

Ian Henderson fractured both bones in his lower right leg in the 79th minute of the match.

Henderson has undergone surgery and an update on his anticipated recovery time will be provided once his rehabilitation program commences.

Scans have confirmed that Dale Copley suffered a tear to his left pectoral muscle in the first half of the match.

Copley will undergo surgery this week and it is anticipated that he will be unavailable for selection for three to four months.
