Cowra rugby league officials were delighted with numbers at the club's first training session on Wednesday night, which included some new faces and former players returning to the Magpies.
Overall there were 33 players at the opening training night including a good representation of the senior ranks.
"This was very pleasing for a first night,” said club president Steve Dawson.
"In past seasons players have avoided the warm weather and have been slow to come on board, but this was really good and there is a tremendous feeling about the place, so at this stage the club is on target for a more successful season,” he added.
Training will continue tonight for all grades starting at 6.pm at West Cowra with the one night a week approach to continue until further notice.
Officials and coaches have decided against competing in the West Wyalong Knockout and will concentrate on trials which are likely to include playing a Newcastle side led by former Cowra player Ian (Dooty) Bourke.
Some of the new faces likely to trial with the Magpies, Matt Uttley a prop or second row forward from the ACT, halfback (Sydney), five-eighth former Cowra star (Sydney), utility player Group 10.
The "New” Magpies jumper for 2004 has been decided by 350 supporters votes No 1 being a clear winner. The 1st prize in the voting draw went to Joshua O'Brien of 6 Courallie Street.
The concept was so successful that officials had a further three draws for family passes for Cowra home games this season. Winners were Peter Rigg, Harvey Tarrant, Heather Hickey.
Cowra Rugby League will be holding a committee meeting on Wednesday night 6.30pm for 7.pm at the Town House Hotel

MORGANS MOVE
TO MANILDRA
In further League news, Steve and Trent Morgan have left Orange CYMS to join Group 11 Club Manildra continuing a strong build-up not only by the Rhinos but most other clubs.
Quality recruitment across the board is expected to strengthen the standard of Group 11 this season.
Aside from the Morgan brothers going to Manildra, Damien Kennedy is at Forbes,, Wellington are apparently after Trent Runciman, which would be a huge boost to them  , and Macquarie have apparently gained quality players.
Group11 president Jock Colley said the gap is closing between the top sides and the previously weaker sides.
The beginning of the Group 11 competition is still three months away.
