Craig Wing or Danny Buderus ? Who is the better hooker ?

This is one question that annoys the absolute crap out of me. Phil Gould knew all along that Wing is a better option at dummy half in Rep games, but he never really had the balls to name him as the starting hooker. Now, even Wayne Bennett knows the real score, Wing will apparently get alot more game time in the Tri-Nations final than Butterarse. So why is Wing on the bench and the most overrated player of the millenium is starting ? Am i alone in thinking that Butterarse has NOTHING, in ANY area of the game, on Craig Wing ?

While you may pass my original post down as being biased, but seriously, and i mean really seriously please think for a moment. Dont you think, that when Craig Wing comes on and replaces Butterarse, that every Rep team whether it be NSW or Australia, seems to play ALOT, and i mean ALOT faster, simply because of Wing at Dummy half, compared to Buderus ?

You are a clown. Buderus has achieved more and simply done more then what wing will ever do. Buderus is a dally m winner and has won dally m hooker of the year 4 years running. He is current NSW and Australian captain. Butterarse......what a insult :roll: The reason for his impact is cause that is exactly what he is, Wing is an impact player, nothing more. I notice wing is never heard of at number 9 for the roosters. He go's missing when ask to tackle the big forwards. Buderus is still tackling props in the 80th minute while giving his best in attack. Who is the better hooker? That's debatable.

Who is the better player? Simple. Wing easily, as he's also a rep quality centre, 5/8 and half.

Personally, as far as the tri-nations go, Buderus has been along with Carroll Australia's most ineffective player whereas Wing has been one of the better players and was indeed Australia's best when they played GB the second time around. He does seem to get more game time which gives us an idea as to who Bennett prefers.

But compared to Wing, i think he's slower than him and i also think Wing has more facets to his game ... like speed, a kicking game, and being able to break the line. Im sorry but Buderus has none of those qualities and i think its a wasted spot. Have Wing starting, and Bowen on the bench. That'd rock !!.

Better at 5/8 or centre? :lol: Has he ever even played in those positions? You'd hope not as he doesn't even have a kicking game. He is, as we've seen when filling inf or Joey a couple of times (until Hagan learnt) the worst halfback of all-time.

But i dont want to get into a childish argument. Buderus is a world class player and having him start with Wing on the bench seems to work. At this stage he certainly more than deserves his spot as he is the DallyM player of the year.

People who have any sanity about them know that buderus deserves his spot there. Wing did sh!t all in 2004 and is lucky to be on that tour. You can't possible say the best player of the 2004 NRL comp doesn't deserve his spot there. At the rate he is developing Cameron Smith will be the only player putting heat on buderus. Saying Wayne bennett prefers wing is 1- not true 2- wayne bennett would rather have berrigan at hooker ;-)

Read the post again. What i meant was that buderus as a hooker is still 10 times the player wing is at any position.

I think this argument wins over all. No more wasted spot ... what the hell does Buderus actually add to the Aussie team ? Finally Bowen gets a shot on the bench ... who could argue with that ?

Priddis has got a world class forward pack infront of him. Buderus was leading a bunch of 19 year old forwards around for 26 rounds. Buderus also plays injured and everytime he plays won of these 'better hookers' he outplays them convincenly. Cameron Smith is Buderus only real competitor.

Buderus is extremely over-rated, sure he is good but i can name 3 to 4 NRL & ESL hookers that are better then him

although i think Priddis is the #1 hooker in the game at the moment ;-)

their both brilliant players! no doubt about that but ask your self who's the one player you would have in the trenches with you when the going got tough? the player has to be one who's shoulders carried the weight of one town this year the bloke who gave his all through pain when many other including the other bloke would of relented and gone under the knife.

Buderus and Wing make a good combination. I prefer wing off the bench due to explosiveness when the forwards a re tired. That said, now that Buderus is not 100% wing should start.
