Hey guys so I just woke up my house and my neighbours screaming in agony due to a cramp ( Ive never felt pain like this before) Was in my Right Thigh, Calf and toes all at the same mother f**ken time???
I now have a massive bruise on my calf. Lasted about 5minutes and only stopped after some stretching and massage from my house mate.

All I did tonight was play a game of oztag earlier, was well hydrated and an hour before bed I had bout 600ml of water with some very very weak cordial in it.. Not to over share but took a piss not too long before bed and I could of re filled a Mt Franklin Bottle and re sold it..

Can I ask anyone in the know WTF??

I tried taking some warm salt water and all that has done has made me throw up ( SO i assume bad idea lol )

I used to get some pretty severe cramps back when I was 16-18 very similar to what you are describing. Essentially my calf, quad and hammy would all cramp up at the same time and I'd be immobilised and in tears till someone helped stretch them out.

I used to get them after spending the day at a skate park or playing hockey so was pretty obviously caused from too much activity then not replacing my fluids and minerals.

I'd say this is what caused yours as well. While you drank plenty of water afterwards, you might have lost too much salt/minerals through your sweat that water doesnt replace. If you sweat a lot when exercising then you'll lose a heap of salt and that can cause cramps.

Taking magnesium after a work out will go a long way to stopping it from happening again.

Thanks dude you are probably right. You get into a routine and when 99.9% you recover fine you assume your doing the right things . Might try what you suggested.

you can also take taurine and magnesium as supplements or found in natural foods such as bananas which will help

Just eat a banana and have a gatorade after you work out. Leg cramps while you are sleeping are pretty common growing up. I used to get them all the time. Now I get them on very rare occasions because I do work out at night but I try to replace lost salts and bananas are pretty tasty.

Sorry I wrote that at 4am in a sick stupor :p

What I meant was its fairly common while growing up in reference to Danish and then I mentioned the post exercise thing in reference to you. If you work out before bed you can get nocturnal cramps its just not as common as it is in teenagers. I don't normally ramble so badly. lol

But yeah cramps in general are caused by a lack of salt and potassium so gatorade and bananas are the perfect foil.

If I don't go for a run or a long walk every day, I will get cramps in my calves the next time I go for a run. Just make sure you move around enough every day, that should help.
