Are you sure it is a guess? Because if it is.......

WHAT A BRILLIANT GUESS IT WAS!

You're correct. Gavin Robertson was hit for six by Arjuna Ranatunga off his first ball in his debut match during the 1994 Singer World Series at Colombo.

Lol cant believe that. That was a lucky guess.

I think it was Mark Waugh who also told the story about he was giving tips to Robertson about the first ball get it out of the system take the nerves away, a bit like Warne when he was bowling to Shastri in his first test. Didn't go well though.

Did the same English batter hit the winning runs in each game?

DING DING DING! We have a winner.

Andrew Flintoff came very close in the 2003 Bangladesh vs England series, hitting the winning runs in 2 of the 3 games and was not out in all 3, but Paul Collingwood hit the winning runs in the other game.

So yeah, that is the only 2+ ODI game bilateral series since 1971 where the same player hit the winning runs in every game in the series, and ALSO most likely (needs to be verified) the only time a player has hit the winning runs in 3 consecutive ODIs.

Lol cant believe that. That was a lucky guess.

Well, Robertson got 0/24 off 7 overs. So, he only went for 0/18 off the other 6.5 overs. However, that was the only game he played in that tournament.

Regarding Ravi Shastri, an absolute shame Warne got tonked by him in that SCG test (including dropping him off a caught and bowled), as Shastri was absolutely pedestrian as an opening batsman during the ODIs that summer:

33 off 110
10 off 68
0 off 6
4 off 22
1 off 2
22 off 67
11 off 35
17 off 50
61 off 115
57 off 112
25 off 67.

Have a look at how great those strike-rates are! Even back then, that was pathetic and his slow start cost India in several run chases. Although not far behind, Geoff Marsh was also past it by that stage, having many slow starts of his own.

Trivia time again....two questions that go together

1) As you know, Australia have worn various different ODI jerseys since the World Series Cricket revolution began in the late '70s: everything from the canary yellow that became synonymous with the Australian team in the '80s, to green and gold in the mid '90s, to dark green when the Commonwealth bank sponsored ODIs in Australia during 2006/07-2012/13 summer.

However, Australia wore a salmon-colored jersey once. Who was it against?

2) (The clue to question 1) the match this jersey was worn in was the first day/night ODI in that particular country.

Australia played against that same country in the first day/night ODI held in another country. Which country was it?

Sri Lanka

In answer to question 1, correct!

Australia wore the jersey - acquiring the nickname "Pink Panthers" for that match - in the last ODI of the 1992 Australian tour of Sri Lanka. The tour which was most famously remembered for Australia's 16 run win in the 1st test after overcoming a 291 run 1st innings deficit. Here's a small article from Wisden regarding the ODI:

Unfortunate there's no photos nor tv footage from that tour, other than this small clip. Would've loved to seen some extended highlights:

Im guessing again. Unusual for a host nation not to play in this first one so thinking its a country just hosting but without a side in the tourmnament

Malaysia?

Audi Waugh, he just missed out being called Olympic.

The polar-opposite end of the spectrum was Dean Jones. Topped the test batting average in the Australian squad, yet at only 31 yrs old, never played test cricket again after that tour. Greg Matthews was the leading run scorer and 2nd leading wicket-taker for Australia, but only played 2 more tests after that tour.

Needless to say, both players didn't have a good relationship with coach Bob Simpson.

No, it's a test-playing nation (my apologies, should've made that more clear in the question).

Yes, it is unusual for a host test-playing nation not to play in their inaugural one, but it didn't occur for this team for about 18 months after the first day/night ODI in their country.

Complete and total guess here but was it the 1996 World Cup final in Pakistan?
correct

1996 World Cup final, Australia vs Sri Lanka at Lahore was the first day/night ODI in Pakistan. Pakistan didn't play a home day/night ODI until late 1997 vs India.

IIRC, the Lahore final initially wasn't going to be a day/night but there were numerous complaints of heat exhaustion during the pool games held in Pakistan (most notably, one of the English batsmen vomited near the pitch and had to retire hurt)

Here's one that came in my mind this morning:

During Shane Warne's test career, there were 3 wicketkeepers who kept to Warne's bowling. Two of them obviously were Ian Healy and Adam Gilchrist. Who was the 3rd?

(Much harder question below)

During Shane Warne's ODI career, there were AT LEAST (I say at least, as there maybe more, not sure) 7 wicketkeepers that I can think of who kept to Warne's bowling. Two of them obviously were Ian Healy and Adam Gilchrist. Who were the other 5?
