Does anyone know how I can get my hands on the footage from the 73 and/or 78 Grandfinals.

Cant see us making one anytime soon, so I may as well reminiss on days gone.

Another member was going to database everybodies footage.
I was then going to quality check them & repair them if possible for decent transfer onto DVD.
But a couple of idiots on here got him banned.
We could have been able to collect quite a few games. Its amazing what turns up in old boxes.

I had nothing to do with Frenzy being banned.

Now that that is cleared up.

I know Sharkette and Groggo have some footage and they have said that once they have transferred them to DVD, we might be able to get copies.

That's right, we have BUCKETLOADS of old games, including the 2 GF's in question. It's taking heaps of time to get them all converted to DVD at the moment but we'll get there eventually so please hang in there for now! 8)

We've got some good DVD capture software and equipment at work, its really not too hard to do if you have the right stuff.

but you need a PC with a DVD burner, a video to USB connection and the capture software, which is available free.

The bad thing about it is that you just get a DVD of a 80 minute football game, with no chapters to skip through, its just an 80 minute video, on DVD. you have to fast forward everywhere you want to go.

I would be happy to do it if anyone would be happy to lend me the videos.

Its not too hard if you want a crap result.
Anything through the usb port is crap. Even USB 2.
It is best to transfer the original onto better media first.
e.g
VHS---> Mini DV or DV CAM or perfect Digi Beta.

Then use that after some touch up or ehancement.

So VHS------>MiniDV-------->firwire port---------->final Cut Pro(add chapters)-------->export to Mpg2--------->DVDstudio Pro------>Burn

Quick tips
if it works through the usb port = KRAP
If it relies on paid PC software = KRAP (free stuff works the best)

Easiest method.
Transfer VHS to MiniDV(handycam). It will keep much longer. Tapes are $12. Easy to put on DVD.
