Anyone on here tried some of the crossfit workouts?

I have been giving some a go over the last 2 weeks and I tell you I have never felt more smashed after a session

Here are a few of the ones I have tried so far:

5 Pull-up
10 Push-up
15 Squats
As many rounds as you can complete in 20mins

5 rounds for time
20 Pull-ups (Sub with jumping pull ups)
30 Push-ups
40 Sit-ups
50 Squats
Rest precisely three minutes between each round

Complete 32 intervals, 8 intervals on each exercise (4mins)
20 seconds work / 10 seconds rest
There is no rest between exercises
pull-ups
push-ups
sit-ups
squats

Complete 4 rounds of these triplets as all out efforts for 30sec, move on with no rest between exercises, 30 sec recovery after each round. Keep tally of total number of reps per round (all 3 exercises) lowest score for each triplet counts to final score.
Pull ups
Squats
Push ups
Ring Dips
Sit ups
Alternating lunges

I started two weeks ago and am hooked. I was in pitiful shape (still am i guess) but have a mate at work who has been doing it for a year and recommended it. Threw up after the first 2 visits to the gym lol

But im geting used to that feeling of complete sh*tness and its kinda addictive

Good to hear mate

The best thing about crossfit is you can throw any combo of exercises together so you never get bored.

As long as you keep it challenging.

Yeah its challenging lol. I cant RX a workout of the day so im doing scaled workouts at the 'gong crossfit. I'll get there eventually :)

The trainer said Jeremy Hickmans (Dragons trainer) has been in a few times and she is gonna be working with the boys in the off season, apparently a lot of the footy teams incorporate a similar thing.

Crossfit is great.

Been to a few sessions up here and heading back in a few weeks once my current boot camp training is finished up.

Always something different which stops the boredom factor. That's what keeps you training.

3 rounds to be completed under 15 minutes

* row 500m
* 12 x dead lifts (body weight)
* 21 x 24" box jumps

suffice to say once i competed it i didnt do much else for the session, i was truly beyond repair

the guys competing in these events are freaks of nature

CrossFit isnt circuit training though mate, it incorporates it but it encompasses a much larger set of exercise principles too.

Noone is claiming it as revolutionary or even unique but it gets results

Exactly, not revolutionary or unique or anything special just another money-making fad.

It gets results if you're after fitness, like 100 other things. If you want to achieve any sort ov strength or size though you need to do the basics.

Money making? Its designed to get you away front gyms so I fail to see how it is more costly than any other "fad" like boxing, zumba or even your bog standard gym membership.

Oh and Crossfit is all about the basics bro, that's the whole point

And I wouldnt call it a fad either, crossfit has been around for years and is getting more and more popular, why? because it works. Fads come and go, crossfit is here to stay. If dozens of armies, special forces, police, elite athletes etc incorporate crossfit into their weekly routines then surely it isnt just a money making fad. Oh and you dont need to pay any money to view the WOD's.

I think the money making element is coming in through 'crossfit courses' and 'crossfit boxes', etc.

Is it new? No. Most of the workouts are supersets, or tabata method routines, which have been proven to work.

The marketing is new and it is being promoted to fitness novices as this new program.

I quite like the concept of crossfit, however I would still throw its current spike in popularity into the fad basket.

Happy to be wrong, I just think in a few years time it will go back underground - maybe the Brain Yo-Yo will make a comeback...

When I was fitter I would do a WOD a couple of times a week.

I would usually pick a few exercises off the website and put them in.

Nothing insane as I wasnt fit enough
