It's exactly the type of bitching behaviour that got him on the outer with a few of the dragons players last year.

Heard him and Young almost came to blows.

Can probably count on one hand the number of kick returns he's made in the past 2 years.. always passes it to the winger. Seems like he's caught Timmy Loltzen syndrome; afraid of physical contact

I am all for giving Darbs a bit of stick...but that is a hideous exaggeration / untruth.

Newcastle Knights legend Paul Harragon has revealed marquee signing Darius Boyd was "emotionally frustrated" when he was caught crying on camera during the Knights' 24-6 loss to the Sydney Roosters on Sunday.
...
"He was emotional because he was frustrated with the team making the same mistakes and like all great players you show your emotions," Harragon said.
...
"To me that is a mark of someone who really cares and someone who is a great player. Anything below excellent worries them and that's perfectly natural."

Boyd left St George Illawarra at the end of last season to join the Knights on big money but so far has failed to live up to his reputation.

That would be correct if you mean hit-ups where he actually made a line-break. He is nothing like the genuine fullbacks of the league who tear their way through a defensive line.

But defensively hes on par with the best.

 It wasn't meant literally, but geez he hands it off to his wingers a lot when he has a great chnace to really wind up and run hard back at the defence from kicks downfield, etc

Hmmm. Don't want to bag Darius. He was an part of our two Minor Premierships, our Premeiership and our World Club Challenge victory.

Chief has said as Willow posted above that it's because of his performance, but I've heard rumours his grandmother (who raised him) is ill. Even more reason why I don't want to give stick to someone who served our club well.

i somehow think if some of our existing players showed that much emotion after a bad performance we wouldnt be sitting mid table with a negative for and against having been blown off the park in 3 of 9 matches already this season..

even though he went through a quiet patch for us last season over the three seasons he was with us was perhaps our best player..

he was our best fullback since Changa. I'd take him back in a heart beat.
Better than Lord Ted?

Not in my opinion. Both had their special moments, but when Goodwin was at his best, he was half a class above Boyd.

Is that Boyd that Harragon is describing? Maybe the losses are affecting his pay packet. He better get used to it. He's there for 4 years.
