And you signed how many in a year?

Why is it that other clubs have to suffer for their "overpaid nuffies" but you get to just write cheques (or more to the point, stuff bags full of untraceable bills)?

Cheaters prosper in the NRL.

The NRL wouldn't let us wipe off Tuaki, Dwyer or Fulton who all retired because of injury and we played under the cap for 3 years carrying their money.

You poor bastard.
That's not fair is it?

I don't think anyone from any club can afford to be smug.

He's right when you consider the length of time, the amounts and the ways in which the cheating was done is pretty much on a par. The fact that Storm was successful and Parra was not has got nothing to do with anything.
Some apologists who feel sorry for Parra gave no quarter to Storm & many still don't...the green-eyed monster has a lot to answer for - but its not truth.

Inglis fell on his sword & around 7 lesser/ mid-range players were let go. The salary cap -identified players were already gone & still some had to go. Noone was allowed to take a paycut etc, etc, etc.

Why should Parra be any different?

Below is a really good break down of their cap situation.

It should be a bloodbath. What happens if there is an injury crisis and they need to go into the T2 cap? What if they breach that?!

who f**king cares? if that eventuates no one at parramatta will give a shit. only the daily telegraph. our season is over no more docking of points or fines is going to effect that.

Another point i half picked up on when someone mentioned that our Points differential will help us, did the nrl really allow us to keep our +45 PD? surely not.

Inglis ? ...fell on a sword????
You mean the dude who said he was going to fit under the Broncos cap but ended up getting under rusty's cap?

Reports are that Watmough will be enough to get us under, given the extra money is largely (reportedly) his dodgy TPA(s) that have gone to the cap and the NRL or relevent authority within have accepted his medical retirement (this was rumoured to have happened before the verdict actually) AND will backdate his insurance payout to cover the whole year.

Again, just reports, but it begs a few questions...one, how is that really punishment? 12 points does essentially kill our season, but losing an old injured has been is hardly punishment as much as I'd be over the moon as a fan.

And two....for f**ks sake, how do the board get off standing their ground if that report is true? Essentially, they might wind up being the reason we're not playing for points. What an absolute pack of filthy scum...

Didn't ask you to feel sorry for him....someone big had to go & he could've fought for it to not be him but he didn't....guilts or otherwise he accepted his exit when he could've done otherwise - i call that falling on your sword, you may not.

Regardless, whether they fall on their sword or not, someone big has to go from Parra & a number of lesser or middle-tier players...

Makes me wonder if there's more to Foran's issues than what has been reported....on top of everything else he is last in and first to go? Would be a tragedy....feel for the bloke in all of this.

Apart from that it should be one rule for all but that seems to have gone out the window

Foran is apparently a huge chance of being back for the Souths game. He wants to play footy, he was up for the Dogs game as well but Arthur told him to have some time off.

Arthur is the bloke I feel for in all this tbh. The board can rot, but Arthur has been fantastic and it may all be for nothing. The camaraderie in this playing group is something else...

The whole sorry episode is sad and I feel extremely sorry for the Eels fans who are up there with the best and most committed supporters.

The failings of the salary cap and third party agreements need and should be addressed, but won't be for obvious reasons. (The NRL simply cannot afford to do anything which would in any way adversely effect the Bronco's as they are the cash cow when it comes to TV rights)

Don't condone what the Eels management/board have done but as everyone knows it is not a level playing field and most Sydney based clubs simply cannot compete against the advantages afforded to the likes of the Broncos.

As has been mentioned.

If player X (watmough) is on 700k as season, which is pretty much half way through, his salary now is around $350k for the rest of the season. Then you bring in a minimum wage player to replace him which means that getting rid of Watmough only gets rid of around 300k of the SC. Still have 270k to get rid of.

Foran was told he had the choice of the Titans, Newcastle or St George to get Parra under the cap. No wonder he lost his marbles.

And as I mentioned in that exact post, a couple of reporters have been saying that the insurance payout will absolve the Eels of his whole salary for the season as the NRL or whatever authority will back date it...

Welcome to the NRL where there is one rule for one club and another rule for others.
