Are you attempting to defend the management of your club now?

Nothing to defend yet. No details, just vague accusations followed by specific penalties.

Management of the eels has been a basket case. So has this investigation. Long on adjectives, short on facts.

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/parramatta-eels/storm-backers-to-pursue-legal-action-over-melbournes-stripped-titles-due-to-salary-cap-breaches-20160503-gol0p2.html

So it looks like storm backers are considering legal action over the disproportionate penalties. Personally I couldn't care less if our 07/09 titles get reinstated - not going change the fact that I attended the most pointless season of all time in 2010! (Excuse the pun)

Nothing to do with the current administration. It's Maher, Moodie etc who were on the board at the time.

If it's just the TPAs that put the Eels over the cap and prior to them being added on top the Eels were salary cap compliant surely the NRL needs to provide specifics as to which TPAs are considered to be 'not at arms length' and how so the Eels can respond accordingly?

Don't get me wrong Eels management needs to go, I'm not defending them as it looks like they knowingly breached the TPA rules, however doesn't the NRL at least have to provide specific evidence?

Paying some players in cash. THAT IS INSANE!!!

I think this is the biggest scandal of it all. It breaks ATO laws!

Would have been very interesting to know who gave Andrew Gee 300K from the Broncos Leagues Club, why he took it and what it was used for hey.

Yeah nah as any Broncs fan will tell you Andy Gee refused to answer any questions which of course means that nothing suspect went on.

Some of these Eels fans are delusional, check out the jiberish in this thread and also on one eyed squeel, they are saying they shouldn't bother to get cap complaint and just keep the same squad and play for no points and ruin other teams chances etc.

Wow, just deal with the fact your team was assembled illegally and deal with the fact you will more than likely lose 2 of your better players (pick 2 of Foran, Norman, Scott, Radradra or Jennings)
Do you think that Greenburg will let Parra run out onto the field every week with a team over the cap (points or no points) for the rest of the season?

Seriously wake up to yourselves.

Fans of the other 15 clubs are completely irrelevant. So are Eels fans, for that matter. Who gives a shit? If the NRL allows fans to influence important governance decisions like this then it's a dead entity.

You'll also find that my original question regarding the Watmough report was "how is that really a punishment....?"
The fans drive the game. Dead entity was what you got when a couple of billionaires ignored them for pay TV rights.

And yes, you've been one of the more remorseful parra fans. Didn't mean to have a go at you

Sigh.....again.....the NRL investigated the Broncos & they were cleared of any wrong doing. But because we're the most successful club in modern rugby league history you haters keep whinging & whining.

Im sure they have. Not sure they are obligated to make such details public though

What other sporting competitions strip points in a season, but allow a team or player to continue? Do any other competitions have players or teams compete, but not accumulate any points as has happened in the NRL in the past?

There must be other examples out there. Although this is a strange way of penalising anyone. Bans or deductions or DQ's are common and seem to be less subjective and more logical penalties.

Don't kid yourself. You got off because Gee cared more about the club than himself and fell on his sword.

Yes, the NRL did what they did based on nothing but vague accusations. That's how it works. Disrupt the season, fine a club, all because they're suspicious.

I dont think it is all that common, the fact the NRL simply cant escape from is that in most leagues where there is a salary cap, they do a WAY better job of enforcing it. This shit just doesnt happen in other codes because they would never be able to get away with it, and it's probably an indictment on the NRL that clubs keep doing shady shit knowing they'll be able to hide it from the NRL

I know in the Italian Football league they have stripped teams of points and handed down other sanctions due to match fixing... but i dont know any other code where there has been salary cap breaches the way we seem to have in the NRL every 5-10 years

Standard procedure for the nrl . They went off half cocked and screwed Cronulla over for zero gain.

what has happened?

has there been news or something recently that i have missed which has led to some kind of points penalty?
