Dally M's 2003

I'm not usually into conspiracy theories...... but i wonder whether the players union (led by some of the game's "big names") would have taken this action if their club was doing better than they have this year.

Teams like the Dragons, Knights, Broncos & Parra had some of the most outspoken players & are really no where to been seen in any Dally M Awards that were to be featured.

While i agree with the players and what they are trying to do, i don't think boycotting the Dally Ms is very helpful. Perhaps if we had seen these teams up the top of the ladder (and not Canberra, Penrith & Melbourne) they would have thought twice about the action they have taken. After all, why choose to do this late in the year just before a semi finals series?

Like i said, i agree with the players but not the action they've taken. It's a little immature.

I personally think this should have been dealt with post-season.

If the players were still unhappy then they should have boycotted Round 1 2004.

The league could have started later if necessary.

As it stands they are just tarnishing what has been a very good season.

Hey all... im a n00b at this, and am a HUGE raiders fan! anyway... firstly i think axeing the Dally M's was a silly move, and i for one am very disappointed... i think the NRL should still award the Dally M, just not at an awards ceremony, because i think it needs to be done, and also clinton is in with a very big chance... is that possible?

The NRL have said they will be "destroying" all the Dally M votes from this year so it will be impossible for people to know who won.... How f**king childish can you get!

In better news the RLPA said they will host their own awards late this year where players will vote on who should get what.... I think that's a better system than listening to armchair experts anyway....

The only people to blame are the players association. The minimum wage had been agreed to and the rest would have in due course. Gallop has been quite adamant that the changes to be made could not be done over night.

The players have demonstrated that they have no regard for the game or its fans and that they have turned money hungry.

The thing that pisses me the most, is that most of the team reps on the association (dragons included) are 250K+ players.

The very fact that they were willing to Forfeit the Dally M's was a disgrace, and the NRL has made a noble gesture in treating the awards with the respect they desrve, and that is all in or nothing.

The players must remember it is the competition and the fans that make them great. So show us some respect blokes.
