Go to the gate that’s permanently open for people unable to get through the normal gates (or nearest to the side). Worst case scenario just ask whoever is on duty and they’ll 100% let you in if you show them your ticket. If you’re still hesitant, have either of these links ready on your phone so you can prove it to them. How do you get through the gates at the train station? Do you just ask a worker to let you through?
Nope that won’t work, those merkins were having a lend of you.You mean just tap like an Opal card?
Yep. What a time to be alive^ Ahh thanks.
Yes I thought it sounded a bit strange. It wouldn't have surprised me though if you could tap the ticket. I just found out the other week that if you don't have your Opal card you can simply tap your credit card. You don't even really need an Opal card. Clever machines.
Yep ... they have to let you throughHow do you get through the gates at the train station? Do you just ask a worker to let you through?

Thanks for the information! Am I right in thinking that if I buy my tickets prior to the game I would travel back by train for free? I will still take the ferry the plan is to spend a couple of hours in Parramatta pre game. Watched the game at the weekend the stadium looks amazing.
Yep, that's correct. Most stations have an open gate that you just walk through if you have a valid game day ticket. If someone questions you, you just show them your ticket. Tbh, I've rarely been questioned.
I've even caught major event buses to Olympic Park without a game day ticket. I've just told the driver that I'm going to the game and will get my ticket at the gate, and they just let you on.
Just furthermore on this, no game day advice advising of free game day travel has EVER suggested scanning the match day ticket at railway station Opal Card gates .
Great info. Some of them Rivercats are on a different schedule to others. Some make more stops than others. If you are planning on catching one you better know beforehand which one you're on or you might be late. They seem to make it up as they go so who TF knows? It seems like if there is someone waiting on a wharf, they will pull in and ask if you're waiting for the ferry? lol. The deckie runs up the bow and calls out to the wharf and if there's no takers. they don't even throw a rope.Definitely get the ferry to the game champ.
It's a free harbour cruise to Parramatta due to your game day ticket and if it's a nice sunny day, you'll be very impressed. Plenty of real estate wealth on view on this ferry trip.
It's a 1 hr 15 min trip. Below is the timetable for tomorrow, a work day.

Just note that the last ferry to Parra leaves at 3.18 pm. This might have something to do with tides though. Sometimes, the ferries can't get all the way to Parramatta wharf due to low tides. Buses make up the rest of the trip but it'd be best to get to Parra earlier anyway.
Not a lot to do in Parra if you get there too early though. A massive glorified Westfield shopping centre, and there is always Old Govt House in Parramatta Park. Then there is Parra Leagues Club adjacent to the stadium. An interesting joint if you like gambling on poker machines or ten pin bowling.
Otherwise, there are far better and a multitude of eating options in Church street (Eat street) and some of the side streets.. This is sign posted from the ferry wharf and is a short walk further along the river.
Returning to Darling harbor is best by train. Probably best to get off at Town Hall and walk back to Darling Harbour, but as others have said, you could get off at Central and catch a tram back to Darling Harbour.
There'll be enough people walking back to Parra Station after the game to point you in the right direction. If not, just ask.
Be aware though that we are playing Souths, so try and ask someone with more than 3 teeth.
Enjoy your stay!!

The deckie knows where you want to get off. he asks you when you board. What if someone wants to get off where this is no one waiting?
yeah, just wait at the sea door.If the deckie forgot then the Captain will see you in the side mirror. There is an announcement on board before the stop.
El Cappo will stop if required.
Yep. That 31 minutes is for dawdlers.
A good Skipper wouldn't wear a LJ. He'd go down with the boat.
