Darren Smith re-signs with The Bulldogs

Whilst sitting here doing the midnight shift (attempting to anyway), I did some lurking around onsome sports Web sites out there, and found that Bulldogs utility forward and Queensland representative Darren Smith, has signed for another season with the Doggies.
Smith might be in his early 30's (33 I think),but he is still a top notch player and deserves another season with the Doggies. The fact that he can practically play in any position from 1 to 13, makes him one of the most versatile players ever for the Bulldogs and the NRL. He's always been one of the more favourite players of mine due to his 100% effort week in week out, and on the eve of theSemi Finals it comes as a boosting news for hisBulldog team mates and supporters. Smith can still cut it with many of the younger players in the NRL and his decission to play out another season, with so much still to offer, is the correct one in my opinion.
I'm also glad that he didn't decide to go over to the English Super League as so many have been doing of late .. well at least not for another season anyway.
Bring on The Sharks.

Go the Bulldoggies!

Steven Reardon has also joined Darren Smithin signingfor the Bulldogs, until the end of the 2002 season.
Reardon, in my opinion, has been a stand out performer for the Bulldogs this year. He also is a veteran with quite a few years service to the Bulldogs. Amongst a team that's produced a number of stand out performers this season, Reardon would definately be amongst the the topfour or five performers in my opinion.
Like Raging Bulldog pointed out, it's ceratinly a big boost for the Bulldogs marching into the semis, and for next season.
Anyway ....
Go the Dragons.

Cheers - Aaron C.

You can always count on the doggies to sign a couple of old farts. I heard they were after Cliffy and Blocker for next year. Tell me one standout junior they have developed in the past five years?

"Tell me one standout junior they have developed in the past five years?"
David Thompson
Brent Sherwin
Willie Mason
Shane Marteene
Hazem El Masri
There's five for you off the top of my head legend. I'm not certain about every single one of them, as I'm yet to check it out, but I'm pretty certain about them, and will possibly get back with more latter when i have more time.
I guess now you will argue whether they are stand out juniors or not. It's a matter of opinion and us Doggy fans will argue endlessly with you.
Just because you Canberra fans have suffered the most pathetic display by a Rugby League team this year, should you point the finger at the 2nd positioned team on the ladder? I think you lot should thank Nth Queensland and Penrith that you lot will not end up with the spoon. Because you are easily the worst team this season. Just ask around.
look at the top at the ladder legend ... there's more action there than the bottom four.
Go you mighty Bulldoggies!

Dave Thompson has been told he will not be with the club next year and Willie Mason is not a Canterbury junior, so you can't count him either. Mason was a Hunter Mariners junior along with Brett Finch from Canberra. Sherwin has been a disaster this year and has started only a handful of games and can hardly be called a standout anyway. Your club is sitting in seconf because the majority of your team are now made up of imported players like Patten, Vagana, Anasta, Rauhihi, Howland and Trindall. Canterbury religiously throws huge money at any player off contract and consistently gets knocked back. Tonight will mark the beginning of the end for the poodles. I mean, look at your mascot. He has to retire because he was the mascot when the majority of the playerswere playing flegg.

Wipe your mouth legend, you're dribbling uncontrollablybud. lol
You can also add Corey Hughes to that list.
Legend, is the reason behind your jealousy against our great team, becuaseyou were expectingyour Raiders to be in the position that the Bulldogs proudly sit at this stage of the year ... before the season commenced this year?
If so, you're kidding right? Dream on sucker.
Please except, like the saddened and frustratedRaiders fan you are, that because Canberra have been beyond a joke and dissapointment this year, so you are seriously yet quitely considering following the Bulldogs during the remainder of the season .. and quite possibly from here on in.
It's allright legend buddy, you should be proud to do away with an ordinary and has-beenoutfit like the Raiders, and come on board the 'Dog-Train. We'll give you a rough time at first, but gladly except you after the initiation stage.
BTW, the initiation stage is carried out in the notoriousalley way rightnext to the Stardust Pub at Cabramatta ... I'm sure only you and I here can imagine how painfull that is going to be, considering the great stoushes that took place there. Does it bring back memories for bud? ha ..ha ..ha .....
Doggy .. Doggy .. Doggy!

Mate, i'd rather try and play pick up sticks with my butt cheeks than follow the dogs. The dogs rank very high on my most despised clubs and that is never likely to change. Honourable mentions also go to Newcastle and the Roosters.

"Tonight will mark the beginning of the end for the poodles. " - as said by legend.

Just on last nights game, I think Jason Steven has got some serious charges to answer to at the judiciary next week. His elbow on Polly was not pretty. The Blldogs may have been lucky to come away with the two points, but the win has secured the second place position on the ladder for us.
Turn it up legend, didn't you know that envy is one of the Seven Deadly Sins ?
Go the Dogs.

Beattie and Stevens look to be in for a bit of time on the sidelines.

It might be Dragons and Sharks in the first round of the semis, with Dragons starting as favourites if Beattie and Stevens are both out.
