While Young was a good first grader, he did not show up today

The first newcastle try, he jogged from dummy half, did not make an attempt to tackle and escorted them to the try

The second newcastle try, he dropped the ball because he did not move up, he then again jogged next to the ball runner and escorted him to the tryline

The last set, the ball was passed to him, he let the ball dropped to the ground without making any attempt at catching the ball

His service from dummy half is mediocre. He really need to lift his game

n for me was Trent Merrin for me today was pathetic, he deserves to be dropped after today, im a big fan of his but after his axing for nsw he should have stood up for us today but he was ordinary and lazy looking.

wow rather harsh

The first try? go watch the set again, he just made three tackles already and had no chance of making it across. If he hadn't of chased out hard you wouldn't have even noticed him ... weird

for the second, the ball was at his shins?

I have to agree. Fien decision making was terrible. Merrin was very very mediocre. In fact I thought our forwards got hammered today.

Merrin has been ordinary for a few weeks.

I have said all along. We need Cameron king.

I think he showed today why he shouldn't be playing Origin. Absolutely heartless.

Reece Simmons on the other hand went really well. He had a lot of work to do for one of his tries and looked close to getting another before putting in that deft grubber, earning a repeat set. Probably would have got a third if Marketo had even bothered looking towards the short side on the last when Dragons had that overlap and Fien ended up losing it.

Yeah you don't want to be too harsh but I have to say I was very disappointed in some of the Dragons regulars today. Not the fringe guys - Simmonds, Tagive, McKinnon, Stanley - they were great. But the guys you expect to see in the starting 17 - lacking in energy, enthusiasm and creativity.

Young has had a terrible season (still can't believe he was picked for Origin). He is one of my favourite players but he is just so slow. Like slug slow. The opposition pick him off so easily. He just can't play hooker. Period. Did Rein get injured?

Merrin just lost his place in the Blues. I expected him to be on a mission tonight. He was on a mission. A mormon mission. I've said it before, I'll say it again..."where is the mongrel?"

And Fein. OMG. He was terrible last time he played 5/8 (after SOO2). He was even worse tonight. Yet he is a great half back at international level. Why wouldn't he play half and Hornby play 5/8? I hate to second guess the great Wayne but I don't get it.

I thought the Dragons would struggle in the backline tonight but I thought the pack would stand up. They may be missing Creagh (who is very, very important) and Scott but that is a really good set of forwards. They were average tonight.

Blaming Young for the dropped ball before the 2nd try is

The pass was pathetic, he did well to even get his hands to it.

Fien plays an OK supporting half role, he is not an organising half and so whenever he is asked to run a lot of the play like today, he is going to struggle. I don't know that he can be blamed for the loss, he did a pretty good job for a hooker really. Merrin did lack his usual punch though and i thought it was really great to see Simmonds have a good game because he copped it a bit after the Titans game

I was happy for Simmonds. He copped it a bit in this forum. Personally I didn't have bad memories of him and let's face it, he came from nowhere to help us out of a bind. He played well both games. McKinnon looks to have the makings of a good career. And Tagive was heavily involved. But Fein - half or hooker. Hornby should have played 5/8.

I thought we looked sharp when Young came on into dummy half.

Yeah same... guess i will have to watch the game agian...

come on guys dont go into meltdown mode here... we've lost 4 games all year. 3 of them during origin period when we are dealing with injuries as well and 1 loss to the sharks when they played almost a perfect game against us and we were backing up from how much footy and travel in the off season.

There is no need to worry at all and nobody should buy into this "wheels falling off" media crap.

Lets see how some of these teams fair against us after the bye and when all our players are back on deck...

I think you'll find that young should'nt even be playing at the moment because of his knee.Beau scott said on the mmm last monday that he was only playing against manly because hornby was out hence the reason he has been coming off the bench.

That's the other question mark. How many of the boys are carrying injuries? Young and Stanley are definites. Not sure about Tagive. Hornby's first game back. Good timing for the bye.
