Crew member dead on Heath Ledger film set

A crew member on the set of Heath Ledger's new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, has been killed. The special effects technician, who has not been identified, was killed after a crash occurred during production, Warner Bros said today.
The technician died as a stunt vehicle smashed into a tree while following a truck laden with a camera platform.
Filming for the movie was not taking place and the film's actors — including Heath Ledger, Christian Bale and Maggie Gyllenhaal — were not injured.
The studio said producers, cast and crew "are deeply saddened by this tragedy and their hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased".
The accident occurred during a test run at a racetrack near Chertsey, south of London.
The Dark Knight is slated for released next year. Bale stars as Batman while Ledger plays his arch-nemesis, The Joker.
