Depends on the injury. If it was chronic and debilitating like Daniel Chicks finger, and amputation cures it, well why not.

If it was just a matter of coming back a few months early he's a dickhead.

Tawera Nikau elected to have his leg amputated below the knee rather than spend months having it reconstructed in hospital so he could go home and take care of his family. That took bigger balls IMO.
