Yep, seen them twice!
Smoke on the Water = Bong ;-)
Forthe people on here, the lyrics 'smoke on the water fire in the sky' are simply Gillans memorys of the casino at montrose burning down at night, its destruction caused by a flare shot into the old ceiling by some druged out hippy.
Frank Zappa and his band the Mommas who were close party buddys of Gillan were playing at the time and nearly lost their lives in it.
Its a great song with a great opening riff and fantastic lyrics in it, that simply tell the story of Gillan and his band Deep Purple of which the other members being Blackmore, Paice, Glover and Lord, arriving at Montrose in Germany to play top billing at a concert there in the Montrose Casino, which of course burnt down before they could go on, tragic I know, and I don't think anyone died in it, but if it hadnt happened we wouldnt have got this incredible song.
Its lyrical content has got nothing to do with drugs, like this fool and many other stoners think.
