Deletion explanation

Some people were upset at having Go the Dragons e-mail from MattO being publicly posted on this site and asked to have it deleted which has been done. I only got this information word of mouth and nothing was ever forthcoming from MattO about the e-mail. This was a judgement call as I personally did not see a problem with having the e-mails posted as I had done that before on WORL and rleague froums. I also do not want this site to be known as a place to bag off WORL. Members still commute between both sites so any confrontations for the sake of it should be avoided. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me or any of the othe managers.

It was myself who asked legend to delete the thread. I'd like to make it clear with everyone that Matt was no the cultperate so don't turn this into a bagging session. I talked to matt on icq and he didn't exactly seemed wrapped with his email being posted. Before that i already had objection with it being posted and i feel it was an invasion of privacy, i take this stand on anyones email messages being made public with out permission.

CM, I debated long and hard over whether to delete the post and I still think it should of stayed and if you have a look at my last two posts on that thread I also voiced my opinion. At the end of the day I could see the post turning into another "forum members assistance required" type thread. It would be and us v them slanging match and I don't think we all want to travel down that road again. Some may enjoy it but at the end of the day it becomes destructive rather than constructive.

CM, basically, the author did not give his permission for that e-mail to be used and requested it be deleted on the grapevine. As far as the hypocrisy of it all, well that's another story.

CM - I did reply to his email, it was stated very clearly. I was getting around to his second email and actually replied to that in here as well where I clearly explained a few things.

My defence and reply was deleted, which I feel was wrong. The guts of the post is now gone. It may as well fully well go now if certain people can't post in here.

The fact is we replied and outlined our reasons, notably the comments directed at Jim Hall, the time factor and possible legal action.

Darren chose to make it public has turned it into a public issue and I'll reply publicly. I rechecked the email and there was nothing personal said in it.

Matt, that exact point you just made to CM was the exact point I was trying to make to Bronco but he insisted it be deleted. I could see nothing wrong with it myself but Bronco came at me like a bull at a gate to defend you. I gave my reasons for letting it stand. I then deleted the posts at his request as he said you were quite upset at what had happened and I felt if the situation was not resloved there and then, it would get out of control. In the end, you posted the e-mail after I had deleted it which proved to be a pointless exercise on my part.

Jeremy asked for it to be deleted, not the authors of the email. I just wasn't overly amused by it all. Jeremy has his reasons and I came to check it out myself and saw no real damage at all.

I was the author, not Jeremy. I didn't want it removed. I never emailed Legend or came on here screaming. I replied and moved on and will move on and will send in another reply. I wish I copied it onto file.

The fact is I re-produced my email. I'm open for attacks.

The post itself was pretty harmless but as someone rightly pointed out, it could attract litigation. IMO, this is way over the top but unfortunately, we live in a world where trouble makers are becoming more commonplace so on that point, Legend had no choice.
Personally, I'd like to see an end to WORL being brought into this forum at all but everyone should be allowed to voice their opinion (within reason).
As far I'm concerned, the two forums are heading in different directions and it's time that a few more realised this.

I seem to recall having my own post deleted on WORL for merely mentioning LWOS.
What does that say about the Forum you run?
You never contribute to this forum but still lurk around. Your presence here is not productive. I really wonder why you persist. Especially considering your already legendary workload.
Surely, anyone can see that it's time to move on.

Darren was concerned as to why rleague.com (the website, not forum) wouldn't promote his petition. We emailed him back but haven't yet sent a follow up. I re-read his email earlier today and will whip him up a reply later on.

Legend did what he feel was right and he doesn't really want to see his site become a bag-a-thon and rightly so. The best thing for Legend is his hands and move on with the growth of this as a SPORTS forum.

As always, you express yourself both clearly and in an very level headed way. Well done bud.
While Cryptic has said most of what Iwould have wanted to say, let me just say this. It was a harmless thread that was originated by a genuinely concerned Dragons and Rugby League fan. It's presence was both productive and was drawing attention every day, however slow it might have been.
It should not have been deleted, as it had the potential to be both entertaining and cotroversial in a maturely debatable manner.
ButI guess now we'll never know ......

What a mess. Aaron, I agree with you and CM but from a legal standpoint, if someone requests it be deleted, we really don't have much choice but to delete it no matter how entertaining it may be.

No one's pointing the finger at you here bud, and I'm sure Cryptic would agree. I just read over his postings again, and think he is against the deletion as a whole, rather then singling individuals out and pin pointing the blame.
We're still in the building stage here, and we should ALL be commended forthings thus far,as I think up until now, we are doing very well ... and it's getting better every day.
With the induction of new and interesting posters every day, itwill get only better and better.
Let's put this misunderstanding behind us, and continue to move forward shall we?

Geez people, in all honesty, can't we just move on from this?? WORL and LWOS should both be working together to promote the game. The last thing either site needs is the continous bitching and cat fighting that goes on between the forums. I don't take an absolute alliance to any site, i believe both have redeeming features and all of us should work together to ensure that the number 1 objective, which is promoting and supporting league, and that it comes before anything else!
I know that some have a dislike for either site, but lets just stop discussing all this crap publicly. Slagging off other websites is not what we are here for and i agree with aaron, lets just get on with it.
