The Manly Sea Eagles today signed coach Des Hasler for a further three years.

Hasler has been in negotiations for several weeks and will remain as head Coach until the end of the 2008 season.

The 287 first grade veteran and former international is in his second season in charge of the Sea Eagles and has taken the side from 13th last season to joint competition leaders after 10 rounds of 2005.

Manly's Executive Chairman Paul Cummings said the re-signing of Hasler was a priority for the club.

"He is without doubt one of the brightest young coach's in the game and his efforts in playing a major part in our rebuilding have been justly rewarded.

"As well as being ameticulous coach he has excellent player and staff management skills," Mr. Cummings said.

Manly's major shareholder Max Delmege said the extension of Hasler's coaching contract was confirmation of the stability which exists at the Sea Eagles.

"Des Hasler is a hard working winner and it is wonderful that a former great player is going down a similar path as a coach.

"I am personally delighted that Des is in charge for a further three years - I'm excited about what he is doing this season. The supporters will welcome the signing," Mr. Delmege said.

Hasler said he was pleased for his coaching staff.

"They are a great, professional group and I'm delighted they have stability for the next three years where we can collectively achieve our goals for this famous club," Hasler said.
Manly have won 12 of their last 17 NRL games under Hasler including seven from nine this season. In addition the club has won its last nine games in succession at Brookvale Oval." " www.mightyeagles.com
