``They're not better than us,'' New Jersey's Kenyon Martin said. ``They had a decent ballgame today, and we had some careless turnovers, but they're not better than us by any means. Hopefully we'll see them down the line and show them who's the better team.''

That was after Detroit beat the Nets 89-71 The pistons held teams under 70 in the last five games before that win  The nets didnt want to be the 6th they committed an intentional foul to stop the clock with 13 seconds left it worked they got a tip-in with 1 sec remaining!

Who do you think will go further in the playoffs?

even

Both will lose in the Conference finals

Detroit to Colorado
and
NJ to Ottawa, Montreal or Toronto (Gotta have a Canadian team in the Finals but due to Colorado wining the Cup it can't come from the West)

yes because Colorado is going to win the cup so therefore they will win the Western Conference finals thus to get a Canadian team in the Cup Finals it must come from the Eastern Conference

most exciting basketball in the world, 20% shooting and sub 70 point games.

whoever comes up top in the east is gonna get slaughtered by any team in the west anyway

Detroit won with a margin of 15+ in those 70 point games i could appreciate that.

IMO Detroit might go well against any Western team except the Kings the West is really overrated.

Its had to go past the Pistons...they just have to many guns for the Nets and with Kidd and Kmart haveing a few injury troubles.

Rasweed Wallace has just added a total new dimension to the piston and help Rip out heap on the offensive end of the floor.

But Pacers for the eastern crown.

Ditto with Wizards thoughts. So long as Detroit don't have a form slump, they'll beat even a full strength New Jersey side (although I can't remember the last time that Kidd, Jefferson and Martin played together).

I'm going to go even further and punt that Detroit will go onto beat out Indiana for the Eastern Conference Championship. Too hard to predict who's going to prevail out of the West thus far.

The west is very close, but i think once Webber gets settled this will be the kings year.

Kings over Spurs in the finals...

On a different note, what do people think about McGradys season? Has he been a lone ranger for the Magic or just filling his own stats up?

Magic have enough scorers but one of the worst team defenses in the league so i would say a bit of both. They should get a passing PG (snow)and a rebounding center for Howard give Gooden PT. They also have a top draft pick so next year they'll be right up there in the east.

Lakers and Spurs are the ones to beat the Kings just had back to back losses against Spurs and the Mavs since webber came back they've been worse.

We (Orlando) should have played this crap last season when LeBron, Carmelo and Darko were lottery locks. The only two note-worthy and impact players who'll enter this years draft are Emeka Okafor and Dwight Howard, both big-men.

We should also look to trade T-Mac whilst he's still contracted otherwise we'll ending up losing him in the same manner we did Shaq......for free. Or alternatively get him some help inside, and hope to death that Grant Hill's ankle holds up for a change.

Even that doesn't always turn out. Last year the Raptors were odds on to get one of those top 3 picks, but the ping-pong balls didn't come out in their favour. Chris Bosh (4th pick) should become a fine player, but Lebron or Carmelo would have set the Raptors on the winning track sooner.

The Pacers have the best record in the East, and have beaten Detroit 3 of 4 this season. So it's not too amazing to pick Indiana.

If they meet, it should be a great series, and Detroit did win the most recent matchup convincingly.

The first 3 of those games was without Rasheed and look how it turned out with him there in the 4th game. Rasheed is better than Webber!

No doubts about it Detroit are on fire at the moment and are the team to beat, but the main question is have the fired a bit to early to win Conference crown let alone the NBA title ????

Detroit vs Indiana would be a nice final match up and on current form you would have to favour Detroit however the longer they win the more chance of a loss and a few losses as well can creep in.

Perfect example are the Lackers who lost to Portland today which is now 2 in a row

That's arguable, but I do say that Rasheed when playing well in Portland was able to match up with the great power forwards of the West - Malone, Webber, Nowitzki, Garnett, Duncan. But he didn't consistently play well as most of those others do. If he comes through in the playoffs he will make Detroit very tough, for sure.
