The JBC replay today showed Graff hitting Jets 1/2 Luke Millwood with a late elbow breaking his jaw, he tried a few times with swinging arms to clean a few up and collected luke with only a few seconds left on the clock before casually walking off.

It looked pretty bad and Luke is still in hospital, but the matter is building up to be very serious, he only got a grade 4 charge.

There wasn't much in it. I don't think it was late he was putting pressure on the kicker.

It is just an accident that sometimes happens in footy and it's unlucky that there is an injury.

Are you kidding girvie, the tackle before he swung an arm and that tackle he had a clenched fist and his only contact with Luke was his elbow at his jaw. Luke had kicked the ball and his kicking leg had hit theground again before being hit. No shoulder just elbow. He got a grade 4 charge and is facing an assault charge as the police are looking at it now.
He had time to pull out not use his elbow and as I am told he does extreme fighting he may well be in deep doodoo.

It was appalling and the package og incidents implies a sole purpose to inflict GBH on Millwood

What would be fair is that the low DOG goes to Jail. Especially if he is a trained fighter, he knew exactly what he was doing!

seems like you want Graff fully dealt with in the Laws hands.

I know he did do professional kick boxing or some type earlier this season as a hobbie.
But I really don't think you can use that excuse for Graff looking to truly intentionally Harm him with his Boxing skills? Graff is a very down to earth guy. And its bad luck to him. I saw it happen which I thought was shocking and it happened all too quick and thought it looked really bad.
Very sorry for Millwood and unfortunate that Graff made a terrible hit that had hurt Millwood in a bad way to cause such a serious injury.
With all the action, fustrations and competitiveness in the finals game, things like these happen as everything about Footy is ofcourse physical. Wenty were treading 2x points behind and every individual in Wenty were Hungry to make a difference to achieve ONE most Important thing.......... to WIN.
And obviously judiciary etc... have reviewed the incident and have come to a decision they feel is worth penalising him for etc.

I think some Jets fans are over reacting a bit.

Remember which team Richie Parker plays for.

No other Wenty player acted as Graf did, the tackle before that he made a swinging arm that missed thanks to Charlie H seeing it and pulling his head under his chest when he was on the ground. Graf swung hard enough to swing himself around off balance. And made a high shot a few tackles before that.

He then ran at Luke, raised his elbow and hit him flush on the jaw no other part came into contact with him. If he was going for a shoulder charge then fair enough things go wrong but that was not even attempted and he had time to pull out as he did not leave the ground to charge it down. Just a blindside cheap shot.

His kicking leg had already hit the ground and was watching the ball go dead. If Graf has done any professional fighting or even amateur he is in trouble. You expect things to go wrong from time to time it is footy but not cheap shots and while he may be nice bloke off the field he showed he was a dog on it.

Girvie, you may thinkit is an overreaction but we have an obligation to protect our players from such acts. I have seen the shot many times and no matter which way you look at it it was deliberate and his previous actions supportthat.
Richie Parker has been penalised for high shots and has been placed on report but not suspended, if you notice it is because he does not use his arms but rather his head and shoulders. He cops plenty at his head though as well. Wonder why he has several offers to play elsewhere next year, he is neither a cheap shot artist and keeps getting cleared when reported as his tackles look worse than they are.

Graf I hear may be retiring anyway to go professional in boxing and maybe that is his best career option.

to call the police in is stupid and a blatent over-reaction.

I saw the footage about 5 times, yeah it was bad, yeah it deserved a suspension, but to talk about charging with assualt is a farce of the highest order.

Monty Betham and Carl Webb both did amateur boxing, u gonna want them charged with assault when they make high tackles or start swinging in a brawl. Its a ridiculous precident you're trying to set and quite frankly stupid as well. Its football, not netball...sh*t happens...i practically broke my bloody neck due to a spear tackle 5 years ago...I can no longer play the game...but I aint gonna sue anyone for assault or anything like that bullsh*t. Its footy...it happens to the unlucky few...

Graff's team was behind by two points. He was trying to force an error from Newtown that could have given his team posession and perhaps won them the match.

He didn't execute it properly. This is why he is in Jim Beam Cup. Because they don't always get it right.

I brought up Richie Parker because i have seen him do some terrible high shots in his career. He is probably the 1 person i think of for high shots. But i have seen him on Ngati Nrl and he appears to be a very nice and shy man. He doesn't do high shots on purpose it just happens because he isn't good enough execute each tackle legally every time, and that is why he is in JBC/PL.

It is not an over reaction given its lateness his elbow was the only part to contact him and given his previous attempts in the second half he was out to cause more than an error. He did not jump at him to force a error just ran at him and cocked the elbow, fist clenched and got him flush.

It is not a precedent as Steve Rogers took action against Mark Bugden, Leigh Matthews was charged with assault and it goes back for decades. Jarrod McCracken also took legal action so it is not a precedent.

Assault is assault, Injuries that happen when there is tough play or things go wrong as they do with attempted charge downs etc but deliberate attacks especially with an elbow are not on. Everyone screamed when Williams hit with a late shot and got 16 weeks, break a kids jaw deliberately is only 3 weeks. He had 3 goes and connected with 1 he will get what he deserves.

Ritchie has been reported twice this year but no charges laid as the review panel saw that he hits not at the head but the chest and has this habit of using his head and shoulders.

I wonder what Ian McCann thinks about the incident. He sued Mario Fenech over a tackle that effectively ended his career.
