MY NATIONAL YAWNION COMP

SYDNEY SNAILS (named after the slowness of yawnion)

MELBOUNE MATTRESSES
(as promotion all members of the crowd will receive a free mattress to aid their snooze during the match)

BRISBANE BORES (the team will play a boring style like all others)

CANBERRA CAKES (yawnion forwards favourite foods)

ADELAIDE ELEPHANTS (named after the tradition of fat yawnion forwards)

PERTH PIXIES (of course all rugby players play like pixies)

Hobart Homos (named after activities that occur in the ruck)

That says more about you than anything else. You would prefer someone to stick there finger up your arse than break your nose with a forearm?

no

but if i was a parent

id rather have my son play a game where one idiot got suspended for a long time for being an idiot

instead of a sport where elbows, knees, and raking the head are common occurences

Ah, your a league guy, you should know that in every league game there are 3-4 head high tackles. I've seen some sickening shots this year, I think it was on an eels players. Head almost got ripped off. One of the worst aspects of league is the amount of head high shots.

You are quite possibly the biggest idiot I have ever encountered.

Having played union for 6 odd years anyone who even attempts anything of that nature is red carded. No if's and no buts. And I saw it 5-6 times a season, because there weren't that many people dumb enough to try.

Additionally, your creative naming techniques, in reference to which game is more boring, perhaps a true indicator could be that the Waratahs average 35000 a game and most NRL teams (excl Broncos) average less than 18000?

oh yeah that would be real smart

comparing a yawnion state side

to a league club side

if you were going to compare properly

our clubs average about 10,000 compared to club yawnion approx 10

our state sides normally get sell outs ie 50,000 in brisbane and 80,000 in sydney

our tests normally sell out aussie stadium, which is a little less than the wannabees

but we all know who wins the tv ratings - the kangaroos by a country mile over the wallabies

super 12 is a comp that was introduced because of the failure of club rugby in australia

it is not a state of origin (because players can move to wherever they want) and its not club rugby

its in between

but still not very exciting

Dmitri.....*sigh*.....quit while your behind.........

Club Rugby 10? You are a bloody genius. Club Rugby colts which is the equivalent of Flegg gets a few thousand. And before you say no they don't, many of my mates play colts and I'm often there and the ground is usually fairly full.

As for actual club crowds, 10 is accurate for 6th grade but 1sts usually produce capacity crowds. Go to TG Milner or Coogee or Waratah Park on gameday if you don't believe me.

Oh, and just a question, If NSW and QLD (league) played each other 12 times do you really think that they would get capacity crowds? I realise you will respond by saying 'yes' to that question, but let me tell you know, they wouldn't.

And Super 12 as a response to club rugby's 'failure'? It was introduced so selectors could have a rep level from which to pick national sides without having to compare players who never played each other. That and massive revenue.

And as for it not being exciting. Tell the 41 thousand (and I was one of them) who were there when Berne booted a 48 metre penalty goal from wide with no time on the clock to beat the Crusaders earlier this year. It was as exciting as Riddell vs. Brisbane.

I have never once stated Union is better than league, nor will I. It's just different. And I enjoy them both equally.

Now why don't you sod off and let people who enjoy the sport discuss it without having to put up with your mindless dribble.

omg you are a goose

you started all this by saying that super 12 gets bigger crowds than club league matches

then i corrected you by saying your comparision was ridiculous

then you say if state of origin was played 12 times a year it wouldnt get as big a crowd

of course it wont

but club league has 26 rounds

if super 12 had 26 rounds it wouldnt get big crowds either

all your arguments are flawed

OK I can't fight you there. Super 12's crowds probobly would go down if it was twice as long. Except in New Zealand.

But I'm right everywhere else.

Timbo,
If we had a Super 16 playing two rounds on a home and away basis I think the crowds would go up. At present the public is aware of a teams standing by the time the season is 60% over. If the season was extended it would be twice as long before this occurred plus the H&A factor would put some unpredictability into the result. Also many supporters purchase season tickets and treat the game as a social event, not to mention the corporate hospitality aspects...surely attendences would rise and after watching todays Grand final I know the talent exists to expand the Super 12, 14. 16!
