Grant demands answers from Bulldogs
Dean Ritchie From: The Daily Telegraph October 02, 2012 12:01PM

THE boss of the ARL Commission John Grant is expecting a report from the Bulldogs explaining their atrocious Mad Monday behaviour.

The NRL runners-up are embroiled in fresh controversy, with unnamed players or officials hurling sexist slurs at female TV reporters yesterday.

Grant emphasised the seriousness of the situation at this morning's press conference to name the Kangaroos.

"Based on what I've heard, it's a serious issue and will be treated seriously," Grant said.

He added that the Bulldogs have been asked to issue a report to the Commission on what happened.

As the Bulldogs players held their traditional Mad Monday at Belmore Sports Ground yesterday, the current crop gave the media a reminder of the Dirty Dogs of old.

Through a barely opened window, the partying Bulldogs maintained their anonymity, but not their dignity, as they abused the assembled media.

The ugly comments, which were aired on Channel 9 last night, included:

"THERE are some ladies here to stick their heads in your pants";

"S. .K me off you dumb dog"; and

"I WANNA go and punch you in the face."

Another sour note was a foul-mouthed spray towards the media by the club's gear steward Fred Ciraldo. The players also urinated on Belmore Sports Ground in full view of the assembled media.

It is understood the two incidents are being investigated by club management.

The players' behaviour infuriated Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg, who has been instrumental in turning around the culture of a club that a few years ago had the lowest reputation in the game.

"I spoke with the journalist today and apologised on behalf of the club. That's not how we do business. Will follow up internally!!" he tweeted.

Yesterday's antics were the latest petulance from the Bulldogs players and officials, who closed their dressing rooms to the media after Sunday night's 14-4 loss to Melbourne - a breach of NRL regulations with a heavy fine likely.

Yesterday the players donned cartoon outfits to celebrate the end of their season. Michael Ennis dressed as a Mario Bros, Josh Morris as Barney and a shirtless Sam Kasiano as a Ghostbuster.

Canterbury placed a security guard on the front gate of Belmore Sports Ground.

Several senior players were happy to talk to the media. Club captain Ennis said: "It (the result) is disappointing but part of me is so proud."

Good onya doggies. Show us your true colours. Time to splay the dirty dogs.

Greenberg will be furious, whilst i don't believe it has tarnished the bulldogs brand as much as the media has made out, I think Greenberg will feel like years ofhard work were just ruined over 1 weekend.

Not smart to throw insults at the media, you know they will just bend you over.

"I WANNA go and punch you in the face."

Well I guess that's better than munching someone's ear off.

But seriously, it appears that the Bullthugs of old are back (had the ever really gone?). Scum players, scum fans, scum club.

And so, the wheel turns back against Canterbury in the media.

Grrenburg will sack whoever it is immediately IMO. He's a PR machine and so is John Grant, who, I would assume would have the Borad geared to have measures in place to ban any player or official who carries on like a low life.

This is more like the Dogs that we know and love. Part of me feels sorry for Greenberg after all the hard work he has put into turning around the club. But part of me also has a little smirk on my face. Either way I am sure it will blow over pretty quickly. Maybe they can blame some poor innocent staff member and sack them to save face.

I just don't understand why media has to go to clubs mad Mondays? Why can't they give clubs 1 day out of the spot light.

Some things will never change. As much as I respect Greenberg for doing what he has done as an administrator there will always been an element of the blue and white army that constantly drag the game down; fans and players alike.

Good on Grant for taking the hardline. The knives will be out from the holier than thou bastions of moral decency known as the AFL media but at least Grant, like he did with Robert Lui, isn't gonna f**k around with handing out a punishment to any players found to have carried on like this.

I havent seen the footage or heard the audio, but they yelled through a barely opened window (quoting News).

Is that really a big deal? Thats like a peeping tom complaining about being abused?

Especially considering the clubs do as much as they can to get the players away from public situations for this one day a year. Media were not invited. Shouldn't have been there.

The media were told to stay away right from the word go, but they stayed, sneaking any little bit of footage they could through holes in the fence.

Then course they brought in the chopper for some aerial vision.

Filthy rats.

It has always been my theory that journalists are tremendously jealous of footy players, the talent they have, the good times they enjoy and the amount of pussy they get.

I agree they should be left in peace but if what they said is true it is incredibly stupid. There is no reason to carry on like that. Obviously they were pissed and that explains why they said it and I am sure they regret it. However how hard is it not to make those sort of comments.

I think Seven might have been invited, Nein were obviously not because Weedler is just looking for his next smear campaign. I'm not condoning what was said to the female journo, but Ritchie is a deadset f**kwit for claiming the "dogs of old are back"

These league journos are scum, the players give them nothing because that's what they deserve, so they go out of their way to bring the game down at every opportunity. Fair dinks, it's a mad Monday celebration after a grand final loss, did they expect a group of well dressed lads sitting around a fire sipping brandy and smoking cigars?
