It seems that game we sacrificed a few weeks ago was well worth it.
I believe the very public comments by Raper, the new technique & the commitment by the team, has created a new perception of us by the referees.
I hope Billy Harrigan mentions so in his column, as he took the time to bag us.Surely it is time to mention the turnaround Bill.

certainly the contrast between last year when the coach blamed everyone but the problem and this year where the coach actually fixed the problem is amazing

Yep. I'd go one step further and add that, along with the discipline problem being fixed, Stuey has shown remarkable steel in keeping the same group of guys on the field barring injury. That will be the key to our rebuilding process.

Yes there is a lot of faith shown by Raper. Nuts has had a huge turnaround. Full credit to him, he is playing so much better for it as well. I just hope he keeps it together , I did see him do that ankle pull once tonight tho.

I am still concerned about Bailey's discipline. He always seems to be mouthing off to someone, usually a ref.
It's only a matter of time before something nasty happens.

Slater milks about 3 penalties everygame. The funniest one the other night was when Lomu I think touched him on the back & fell back to the ground.
Surely it's time for the refs to see how he is making patsies of them.

No, some are good, slater is the best.

I think I predicted that there would be 4 penalties from slater in that game & in the end there was 3.
Now if a player is that predictable, surely there is illegal play on his behalf.
For mine, it is like diving in soccer.

He is crap, he gets the penalties, but everyone can see he is milking it, cept the ref.
Though he is the one who counts :?

Gower does it alot to.

Archer is the ref that is most easily fooled by players diving.

If you look at Raper's face during the NQLD match, you will see by his anguish that he didn't sacrifice that match.

He simply changed the Sharks tactics in the play the ball area too much. So much so that the Sharks were unable to compete. He tweaked them again for the Raiders match, and found the happy medium.

Gallen trys to milk them all the time though. He has around about a 1 in 5 strike rate at it aswell. Rather handy

I'll gaurantee you he sacrificed the match.
Well he didn't concede, but, he said, no ruck play whatsoever.
& that, is sacrificing the match.
Combined with 3 public announcements each day for a week leading up to it & a week after it, it has worked a treat.
Looking at Rnd 2 v rnd 9 the biggest difference is perception.
the changes that exist, are minor & don't equate to a 12 penalty turn around.
