You hit the nail on the head with make or break time. This is the big match if we win we will go into the top 4 and with the Raiders and Eagles up after that we can easily go into the finals on a winning streak of 3.Also Newcastle are looking very shakey this week and we are a realistic chance of moving into third, I think we are a realistic chance of holding that sport come round 26.

I don't feel home ground advantage is going to be as useful as it has been for us in the round robin. The news i'm hearing is that Brisbane won't have use of ANZ during the finals series because of the goodwill games (true? false?). If it is true Lang Park is unavailable and our only option left is the Gabba, hardlythe spiritual home of Brisbane rugby league.

Back to this game, looking at the squad we are more than capable of beating any side in the comp with that lineup. The forwards look as strong as ever with that formidable front row still in tact and going strong. We have an Australian second row and Burns has played quite well for us this year, no excuses not to muscle up this week.
In the backs we still have the Australian and all conquering back 3. Add to that a solid centre pairing of Devere and Kelly and our only weakness is at 5/8 with berrigan back to tie down the halfback spot. Despite a tiny lack of depth on the bench there are NO EXCUSES this week.

"The true loyalties of a Rugby League fan is displayed bytheir ability to support their team when they are in the slumps and struggling- not just enjoy the razamataz whilst their on a winning streak."
If anyones loyalty is being tested after just 4 losses in a row they should take a hard look in the mirror. I was pretty embarrassed after the Roosters game mainly because of the lack of effort but you could see the Brisbane boys giving it their all against the Dragons, some days you have to know the better team won. As a fan all i can ask is that they put the effort in and give it their all.

Cheers

Welcome Cryptic Messenger. I noticed by clicking on your profile that even though you signed on a few weeks ago, this is you first appearance.
Good post by both yourself and bronco.
I also believe that this is an all important game for the Broncos afterrecent weeks poor performances. But there showing last week against the Dragons was nothing to be concerned about. Thet just encountred a more determined and eager to win outfit on the day.
I believe they will have no easy task on Sunday against the Sharks, and it should be a great game to watch.
bronco,
The comments you made about the Broncos not having access to ANZ (if indeed it happens)is interesting, as I've not heard anything about it. Can you or someone confirm this?
Good luck to both teams on Sunday, as it could be one of the better games of the season.

Cheers / Aaron C.

Hi CM, bronco, and Aaron C,

I posted this on another thread on this forum but forgot which one it was. Anyway, this is from the official Broncos site:

"As fate would have it, Brisbane will be precluded from playing any finals at ANZ Stadium due to the Goodwill Games. Should Brisbane finish from first to fourth, they will have to stage the first final at either The ‘Gabba or Dairy Farmers Stadium, Townsville."

I agree with bronco that there are no excuses this week...the Broncos need a solid performance. Then after that, its the Raiders at home and the Eagles away. A powerful all-round display this week should bring back the confidence for the last two games leading into the finals.

Let's Go Broncos!

Thanks for that Yaqona.
I'm actually a Dragons fan who was browsing through the 'All Messages' link and came across this thread.
Interesting about the Broncos not being able to use ANZ stadium if they get the opportunity though. I must disagree with bronco though in saying that a home ground advantage will not benefit the Broncos during the Semis.
I doubt whether any side out there would give up the rewarding opportunity of playing in front of a home crowd, in comparison to a foreign one. There is very little that compare to the support and atmosphere of playing in front of a home crowd .... though anything other than ANZ Stadium, maybe tough for the Bronco team and supporters to call 'home.' It's just a non-Bronco supporters opinion, and I could be wrong.
Cheers / Aaron C.

I don't like the Broncos, but i hope they do finish in the top four as their home semi will be played at Dairy Farmers Stadium in Townsville. Then i will be able to go to the game and barrack for the opposition, like a lot of N.Q people will do.

"Gabba, hardlythe spiritual home of Brisbane rugby league." A bit wrong there bronco.

While the Gabba is no longer home to league these days, the venue was quite regularly used for BRL matches, Interstate matches, test matches and other leagues matches (along with the Exhibition Grounds) before the QRL eventually moved to Lang Park. In fact, the first fixture of BRL matches were held at the Brisbane Cricket Ground in 1909. It has played a big part in the history of rugby league in Queensland.

Aaron C, forgive me for thinking that you were a Broncos fan. Reading your post, I couldn't have guessed that you would be a Dragons fan...especially after THAT controversial incident on Sunday hehehe.

I never said it the home ground advantage wouldn't favour the Broncos, I just said it wouldn't be as powerful away from ANZ.
ANZ Stadium has been like a fortress for us over the last couple of years and at the moment it just feels like the true home of the broncos even amongst all the bitching about it. Theres just not that same feeling about the Gabba or Townsville. Sure the home ground advantage will still be a huge factor for the Broncos but i feel its lessened away from ANZ.

Sorry for invading a Broncos thread, but do the Broncos have a choice as to where they would want to play, if ANZ Stadium does not become available for them during the Semis?

And if so ... what are the options?
Just curious.

Absolutely. Feel free to add your opinion to any matter. That's what makes forums successful and I think you'll find you won't get howled down or laughed at here. My knowledge of league has increased ten fold over the last year or so from having participated in discussions I originally knew very little about. Some will say I still know nothing.
