i judge people pretty severely.
if a dude likes pop = gay
if a dude likes techno = drug addict and usually gay
if a dude likes commercial/club rap= wanker (im looking at you pepstar)
if a dude likes heavy/death metal = pretty depressed and more times than not, a goth
if a girl likes rock = either an avril lavigne wannabe or ugly, usually both
if a dude likes rock = champion but usually thinks hes the be all and end all when it comes to music
i dont give in to stereo types btw
I think you'll find goths rarely listen to 'metal'. They're more into the industrial/electronic side of things. They favourite bands will 99% be NIN, Marilyn Manson, Jerk, Rammstein, etc....
Oops I just pigeon holed
Anyway, pretty much no one in my social circles listens to the same stuff I do, so I do not pigeon-hole them. Why just last week I was being barraged for my dislike of Nirvana... But wait, maybe I will generalise. Most Nirvana fans these days are kids who have been told what to like by the NME, Rolling Stone etc... Of course there are real Nirvana fans who have reached puberty, but they are less irritating and don't give a toss if I don't like Nirvana.
I suppose it's somewhat frustrating to hear that people like "whatever's on the radio". WHAT?! Although I am a big music fan and close to all of my disposable income goes towards aural pleasures how can someone not take a personal satisfaction from different types of music. There's some great stuff out there and quite stimulating material.
My better half likes a lot of bands that I do and I would consider us to have similar musical tastes, however, she likes some 'artists' I consider putrid like Linkin Park, but we all have our guilty pleasures. Unless some fool comes up to me and says (pretend I'm wearing a shirt of the band in my avatar Gospel of the Horns) "who are they? Death metal shit? all rar rar I hate everything, gonna kill people, hail satan. Linkin Park is the best!" then I will start to pigeon hole. Note: the above scenario has never happened.
So this has been quite a long post that basically comes to the conclusion of I dunno, whatever...
I'd tend to pigeonhole those trendwhores I see everywhere in Sydney these days. We need more individuality.
