Do you want the NRL to bring back the World 7's ? Like it was in the 90's with teams fielding there full strength teams.

I think this can be achieved if the NRL place the incentive there like $100,000 1st prize and 1 competition point for the top placed NRL team. Throw in the international flavour and a touring English 7's team and I think its a massive success and it would no doubt sell out any stadium... Its like a full gala day of exciting RL that spans all day... kinda like the cricket.

Just imagine a game like the Storm vs Cowboys

Inglis/Slater/Falou up against the likes of Matt Bowens/Ty Williams/Graham/Thurston in the free full field running style of the 7's

$100,000 won't get top grade ref's to participate

$2 million for the winner and sliding scale from there

Otherwise we won't see the top players and it is then just a big waste of time

I vote NO cause decent money won't be found/available

Oink !

I think the money could easily be there from the $$$ generated from the large gate. Remember it was in around 94 it sold out the SFS. A few years ago it got something like 30k and this was to watch second string B teams. Its also popular because EVERY club is involved at the one ground so fans of all clubs come to watch. Teams arn't worried about injuries enough to not play trials but then not playing 7's because of injuries is selfish to the fans.

7's can be built into something massive that will kick start each season. There is no way that a tournament involving every club in the NRL + international teams at the one ground can't be developed enough to sell out a stadium. The NRL is sitting in a buried pot of gold and its something they should use to its maximum potential. If the prize money is not enough then this can be countered by increasing the amount of competition points on offer. If they held it in Sydney they would only need 5k of fans from each Sydney club to attend and they'd be selling out the SFS.

ive said it before and ill say it again what is wrong with players playing with their lesser lights, in a few years they could be superstars of the game and will give the developing countries more of a chance of winning

I can't see the harm in having a sevens event. It promotes RL, helps players gain some match fitness, gives fans some early excitment... provide a good incentive to clubs it should be here to stay.

Because they would get 10k (if lucky) to each day and it would be a financial disaster.

Five premiership points for the winner and I'd be interested once again.
I'm a big fan of this idea, it'd definetly make the pre-season comp something worth fighting for. And if an international team wins it, perhaps some extra money in the kitty?

Get some sponsors make a entry fee per team clubs can enter up to 3 teams if they wish.
Sponsors put in $200,000 get another $10,000 per team entry fee, get 20 teams makes it $400,000 prize pool, $200,000 to winner, $100,000 runner up, split the rest. Put it on TV have viewer prizes, SMS 1st try scorer etc, win a prize like a jersey or case of beer.
Would be a great weekend.

I'd bring it back, in fact i'd bring it back next year and promote the hell out of it. World 7's or World 9's whatever you wanna call it. As long we see International sides competing. That way it'll also be a good promotion for the World Cup later in the year, if they turn out to be good. Teams like Fiji, France, Tonga, Samoa, Russia, Lebanon.

The last World Sevens were ordinary cause nobody knew it was on, hardly an ad on TV, shouldve left the TV rights to Fox Sports. Poor promotion from the organisers.

Plus nearly every NRL side had a team of nobodys. They should have at least 4-5 recognisable players in their team, no excuses.

What about if 1st, 2nd and 3rd place NRL teams get 5pts, 3pts and 1pt as well as prize money. Clubs would take it more seriously and fans would get their carnival atmosphere
