Does anyone else think that the Coboys are pretenders??

This will most probably come back to bite me on the bum......but I just cant see the Cowboys going any farther in this comp.

Surely the Warriors will have way too much forward intensity for the Cowboys.

I know Bowen and Thirsty are good....but IMO their position on the ladder flattered them and they only just squeaked home twice against a pretty ordinary Dogs side at home.

Maybe its cos the Tiges put fifty on them, but I just dont rate the Coboys pack especially without some of their stars to win any big games.

End rant.

Gee you guys are sensitive...without really offereing any reasons why I'm wrong.

Oh well......

I dont see this as Cowboy bashing at all......I have nothing against them, but I just dont think they have the firepower up front to beat the BIG teams.

I'm with simon - look at their record this season, to have finished third was a grand stroke of luck. Much worse than a 12-12 record after 25 rounds, the Cowboys finished with a massive minus in the PD department... how can any team lay claim to greatness with that sort of figure. I think ours was around +50.

Only thing that will win it for them tomorrow is attack. If the Warriors get a roll on it's game over.

My only problem with the Warriors is the lack of creativity from their halves in their oppositions 20......Parra kept them out quite easily.

If I was Cleary.....I wouldnt be spreading it,Id have Prince and co steaming off short balls from Gatis close to the line.

If.......and its a big if,the Cowboys get close to the Warriors line you wold think that between Payne,Thirsty and Bowen that they have the weapons to score and do it easily.

Im loooking forward to this game......power v guile, should be a cracker.

IMO there is a heavy reliance on Thurston and Bowen but really there is nothing else to the Cowboys.

The Warriors are not really much better...they have no game breaker and simply rely on forward dominance...pretty one dimensional.

The Cowboys will win this in a close one.

every team relies on a couple of players.

Stuart-Daley

Langer-Walters

Cliff Lyons-Menzies

the list goes on.

And the thing is, I reckon every single one of you who claim we are a 2 man band, would kill to have either one of those players in your team.

U still dirty you havent been able to beat us in the finals after 2 attempts???

or that we beat you 3 times this year???

Don't let hatred blind your judgement Timmah.

We got whooped on 3 occasions royally, no escuses, but those games alone we had somewhere in the vicinty if 160 points scored against us, it tainted our for and against, but hey, lets' look at Parra 2001, statistically the best team and one of the best teams I've ever had the pleasure of watching live, but for and against didn't mean $hit when they got beaten by Newcastle on the night.

We finished 3rd, and deservedley. If you are going to bag, go and bag, but at least come up with something constructive and not 'their for and against is terrible", you are starting to sound like Gould.

The Cowboys don't exactly inspire me but it's like Joey and his band of also-rans, while they've got Thurston fit and firing you can't rule them out from going all the way.

Despite the obvious protestations of Cowboys supporters, I haven't seen anything to impress me from the Cows - and I'd be the first to say otherwise if I thought they were looking good. I don't think they've been at all impressive apart from a 30-minute period in their round 25 clash with the Bulldogs.

The Dogs are playing woeful football at the moment so they're not great wins and before that they beat a heap of teams out of finals contention. Remember too it took that amazing last few minutes against Penrith to steal an unlikely win.

Of course, the Bowen and Thurston factor means that they can always burn any side that falls asleep but, on current form, I can't see them troubling the big guns just at the moment.

It's a shame because I could watch Matty Bowen play for a week straight and never get bored of it.

All fair comments, but Our Boys have been confounding such sentiments since LOD got hurt. Yeah, the Warriors pack looks too big, too good, too scary, but so did the the Dogs' pack before we humbled them.

Once again the no-name nuffy Cowboys pack has got the job in front of them and once again, if they can break even, we're every chance.

Seriously, Thursto and Bowen can, do and have produced the magic to get them over the line.

But this only happens when their pack stands up and holds its own.

I don't necessarily think they are pretenders at all - if they match it in the middle of the park they will overpower any other team with their firepower.

But the minute they are truly dominated by an opposition forward pack, they won't be able to win. I don't know if that will happen in the Townsville heat tomorrow afternoon, but one would have to think they hold little hope against Manly next week.

Why did you make it about the Bulldogs?

I'm sharing an opinion completely removed from what's transpired in the past two weeks - nothing to do with Canterbury.

If you can't see a poor defensive ratio staring you in the face and can't acknowledge it can turn nasty if your team gets off on the wrong foot, then it's your downfall. When it comes to my club, I'm prepared for either result. I'll blindly believe we can win tonight, but come fulltime, it's time to throw on a level head and realise, if we lose, that this season we simply haven't been good enough (on the flipside I'll be booking my flights to Melbourne if we win lol).

It's not about hatred, so don't even try to use that to negate my opinion - the Cowboys this year have overachieved and snuck into the top four on the back of two players. An injury to one, and you'll fall in a heap. That's not only my opinion - but the opinion of several other teams' fans around these traps too. You might've finished third but the wakeup call is your side is statistically the worst third place side in the history of our 99-year old game. The Warriors have showed far more commitment and courage and kept games close this year (biggest loss was 40-20 v Dogs in R12 if I'm not mistaken), whereas the Cowboys have fallen in a heap on more than one occasion.

You can put it down to "blind hatred" all you like but if you think your season thus far is premiership winning material then you need to look again. By no means are the 'Dogs premiership contenders either (I say this because that's surely going to be your retaliatory remark), and absolutely either the Dogs or Cowboys could jag a couple of wins and end up with the trophy, but don't go kidding yourselves that you're a premiership powerhouse. Without JT in fact, you're nothing.
