Does anyone here vote on the Pro Bowl?

Personally I don't.
Now don't get me wrong I think getting selected to the Pro Bowl can be an indication of how a player has played but I lost some faith in the selection process in 2006.
Tony Romo was selected after playing 10 games total and remember the team was selected after week 12 I think so he played in only 7 games before the teams were selected.
Now comparing Romo to John Kitna that year and this is based on stats only but Kitna was playing for a bad Lions team, so I felt he deserved to go before Romo did.

......................... Yards ...TD ..Ints ..Rating

Romo 10 games:.. 2903 ...19 ...13 .....95

Kitna 16 games:.. .4208 ...21 ...22 ....79

I am not bashing Romo I think he is a very very good QB and last year he deserved to go to the Pro Bowl, just not in 06.

Any comments.

any vote that is left to the general public is a joke, obviously the good players get to go but what was their like 11 cowboys last year and 1 giant? to make it legit they should get their columnists to be a judging panel and vote like the dally m's. brings instant cred and may mean something a little more to the players. think some underrated players would get noted more as well

.

the public vote is a small portion of the total vote.

and the giants were awful before they made their run in the playoffs.

and romo will always be twice the qb kitna is.

um, that's all.

The Pro Bowl is by far the least relevant of the american all star games. The voting starts ridiculously early and is generally just a popularity contest, fans don't care, most players don't care and even if they're voted in will come up with any excuse not to go, the Pro Bowl's only real purpose is to give players and media a free trip to Hawaii. Why bother voting for that.

I didn't say Kitna is better that Romo I did say that Kitna deserved to be in the Pro Bowl before Romo in that particular year.
Kitna played 16 games.
Romo played 10 games.

Tom Brady was MVP last year... didn't even play in the pro bowl.

As someone said, it is a popularity contest. TO has had a dreadful season yet he will make the probowl.

Same is probably with Randy Moss too...

pretty sure he declined due to injury or another reason, he was voted in. I thought the public vote was it as you select every position. it is a popularity contest that doesnt reward performance

It is a great thing to use a reason to holdout though.....

That's a good point.

I don't mind a player that was drafted in the lower rounds cashing in on this though.
e.g. a 5th to 7th rounder or an undrafted free agent getting a raise because he out performed a poor performing first round draft pick who got a big sigining bonus? I think that's a fair call.
