Does anyone know the story behind this?

Hard to make out some of the detail due to his accent (I've watched it a few times but cannot make out his name) but attached below is a YouTube video made by Burkina Faso-born, Lebanese Rugby league player about his dream of becoming a professional Rugby league player... contains both schoolboy and club highlights (presumably from the Lebanese Competition)...

Can anyone shed any light on the story behind this?

Being from Burkina Faso he'd be fluent in French so no language barrier in linking with a French club.

Is emigrating from West Africa to Lebanon common? French is one of the major spoken languages in Lebanon so it makes some sense from that perspective, I guess...

Looks a fair player, get him trial with semi pro teams in uk or french elite.
He wouldn't get a visa to come to the UK. If he's serious then as you say he should try going to France, although I don't know their immigration status regarding non-EU nationals.

Hopefully the right people are advising him on these options. Wonder if the RLEF powers that be are aware of him...

His name is Luc Savadogo. He plays for Immortals (or Wolves depending on which site you read - confusing), SJS school team, and is 19... he is a former u18s Lebanon representative.

Seems to have made conections with Macquarie Scorpions in the Newcastle competition...

Many women emigrate from Ethiopia and surrounding parts, to lebanon to become housekeepers. I have never seen or heard of an entire family emigrating. ( he states his parents have emigrated).

He states his parents were expecting him to become a doctor and is very well spoken. It's only an assumption, but he seems well educated. Maybe his parents are too. Maybe he emigrated to further his education. Lebanon has some good american universities.

So for a male, it's uncommon, but who knows.

Suggest he contacts Lebannon national coach Darren Marron to help arrange a run with a Sydney club

Thanks for that insight... Yes, he is indeed a very well-spoken young man (according to his Facebook page he speaks four languages) and he attends the Saint Joseph School which looks (from the website, anyway) to be a strong academic school.
