The Dogs of War thing has been nonsense hype for some time. In the mid 90's they had some fantastic runs of form (95 and 98 spring to mind) to win and get to a GF, but the Septembr specialist things is more media hype than reality. They play pretty consistent so always give themselves a chance, but its been some time since they really stepped up or defied the odds come finals time.

Weren't Charles Manson's followers called The Family ? I can see where they're coming from with this.

"Bred not Bought" always gave me a laugh too.
Maybe there's a silent 'in' that's hidden... 'inbred not bought'.

Would also explain why they're the 'family club'.

You need to drop the no dickheads policy?
How about you introduce one.

Hahaha true, but mainly our dickheads are just dickheads on the field but decent guys off it

Edit - also dickheads like Carney or Foran don't get gassed after 10 minutes and they play on Sundays.

Except 2012 or 2014

In 2012 the Dogs were minor premiers. They didn't go up a level, they just maintained what had been a great season. Nothing compared with 1998/1995.

2014 you could argue, but really after getting passed the Storm with Smith on one leg in week 1 you played a busted Manly side and then a busted Panthers side. Again, nothing compared with with the 1995/1998 side that was largely responsible for the "September Specialists" persona that hasn't been applicable for some time.

The amount of drubbings the Dogs have suffered during the last 15 years shows they're no different to any other team come September. They have their good days, they have their bad days.

The only person who uses that is Gus Gould.

Ironically his premiership winning Dogs team was probably the end of the Dogs of War era, and then he had Peter Kelly and Chris Mortimer at Penrith
