Would also explain why they're the 'family club'.

The "family" club motto for the Bulldsogs started being used due to the number of Hughes' and Mortimer's that were at the club in the late 1970s thru to early 1980s. Things is after they all started leaving, you could have said it applied to the "Bullfrog" Moore family as it seemed like just about every relative of his was employed in one capacity or another at the club.

As to the weekend, the Bulldogs have a decent pack, but they have average halves, and some very below average backs. Until they get some better three quarters they will be a middle of the road team at best in my opinion. May be a case of having to off load a forward or two so they have cap room to sign some quality backs or halves.

Need a hooker. Though if we can find a half, then Mbye to hooker would be fine. Especially given our current hooking option doesn't kick. A fullback would be nice as well.

We will have a new right side next season, with Perrett and Rona leaving. Brenko Lee comes in, and I'm still crossing my fingers that Idris makes a return to the Bulldogs. Maybe Abbey can bulk up and make a run for the Fullback role next season.

The only person who uses that is Gus Gould.

More appropriate for Penrith/Newcastle/Canberra. Hillbilly f**ks!!

Enjoy She-Rex next year!!

Nope. I've heard the Fox commentators use it many times.

And She-Rex will fit us like hand in glove.

Mbye at hooker might be worth a shot, because I can't see him as a half

He was so much faster than Liccha in delivering the ball yesterday when Liccha went off the field, not to mention that he has that speed that he would be good running from dummy half if he sees it on.

The halves cop shit for being average but fmd who would want to be a half at the bulldogs. Seems more of a problem in the game plan than the halves ability. Get the f**king front rowers out of first reciever unless they're charging off the dummy half. Let the halves get decent early ball so they have time and space to pour pressure on a resetting defence and create something for their runners. Dogs forwards are too slow and des's attack structure had long reached its use by date. I think Mbye would thrive in a different team. .bulldogs are killing him.

That's the jist of it

Reduced interchanges and shot clock on scrums and dropouts and made the bigger forwards ineffective. They're fatigued earlier, and miss more tackles. When we have the ball, we're not making the metres like we used to (I think we lose ground when Tolman has the ball)
Des hasn't changed much over the last few years, but the game is being played a lot faster. So when the game plan revolves around bigger unfit forwards, of course we'll get rolled over in the 2nd half

It kind of feels like the last few years Des just went all in on a forward dominated team building the biggest meanest forward he can and hope they can just bully and physically dominate other teams. individually I think most of the doggies pack would be great additions to most teams but as a pack its just to much of the same. Yeah a couple of them can ball play and offload a bit and Josh Jackson is a bit of smaller workhorse type but the rest of them are just big lumbering merkins who run straight forward, they aren't mobile enough and they really seemed to get tired yesterday, add to that average halves(spine in general actually) who are starved of quality possession and you have the current dogs of war.

I think Sam Kasiano's stint in the first half summed up the issue betcats. He played 13 minutes all up. You need to be able to go for longer than that in days of limited interchange (unless you get injured that is).

I think Trent Hodkinson was a better fit with Josh Reynolds then Moses Mbye. Hodkinson was the play-maker and organizer, and Reynolds was the running five-eighth that would attack the line. They complimented each other and gave depth in attack. Mbye and Reynolds games are too similar.
Hodkinson is a play maker, surely you jest.

And spent most of his second stint out on the edge running at Cleary. He was on the wing at one point. Running big forwards at smaller defenders seems to be the extent of the doggies attacking game plan.

Hodko is a playmaker. Just, but a better one that Mybe. No one can be a playmaker with outside backs like that of the Knights.
