Well, it's been a big scoring start to the Bundy Gold Gold semi-finals with Redcliffe and East Coast winning by large margins yesterday. Hopefully, things will get a little closer in the following weeks (although I wouldn't mind if the Dolphins rack up a big score against Broncowoomba next week).
Anyway, onto to the games. The Dolphins put in scintillating effort against Burleigh yesterday and won the game 40-8 (who would have expected that??). This is arguably the best performance I've seen Redcliffe put in this year and just about everything they touched turned into gold. The likes of Barry Denduck (who replaced Adam Mogg at fullback), Rick Hewinson, Phil Graham and Michael Roberts cut the Bears' defence to shreds and the Dolphins' defence was absolutely superb, nullifying the much-vaunted pack.
Overat Bashup Park, the Tigers easily disposed of Norfs 52-10. The Devils were totally outclassed by their opposition and bow out of the season. East Coast still face a tough task to make the grand final but this performance will give them great confidence in the coming weeks. This result has got be close to be some record for a semi-final score.
Next week's matches:
Toowoomba v Redcliffe at Athletic Oval (ABC game)
Burleigh v East Coast at Pizzey Park
