Double movement?

How on earth have they given that? Ball carrying arm touched ground before he was over the line. Then he sat motionless on his backside and turned round seconds later after being stopped completely to put it down.

Bad mistake in the first place, but that was never a try in a million years.

Yes it was, it just looks bad in slow mo...plus your pommy Video Ref gave it

It wasn't Klein that gave it, if you listen to the ref he specifically told him not to judge on the fact that he was tackled.

It wasn't a try. The rules state that if the ball carrying arm has touched the ground, there has to be forward momentum. There was none. The moment the ref should have whistled was when he was sat on his bum, completely still trying to wrestle the ball free.

Poor call.

Looked fine to me, but I'm biased.

You guys scored off a forward a pass and a BS penalty.

The problem was that the Ref did not call held, or held up, quick enough. Whatuira did
not promote the ball over the line as he was already over it.

It was dodgy, but a lot of Archer's calls have been.

The ruling on the penalty was that he wasn't tackled I believe. It's one of those that is probably technically correct if you take it to 99th degree of pedantry, but 99.99% of the time it's a penalty the other way.

Typical GB NZ game. NZ are big and strong and not much else and GB are weak and have no direction.

Whatuira touched the ground whilst his momentum was still travelling, but he didn't promote the ball- it's not promoting the ball to put it down when both of your arms are in the air. I don't think it's possible to call double movement in that situation.

ball was not grounded in the momentum rule, the ball carrier was held up,his forward momentom was stopped then he touched down, aweful decision especially when it went to the video ref.

Doesn't "promoting the ball" refer, by definition (or obvious implication) to promoting the ball illegally from outside the in-goal to inside the in-goal? Once a player has legally got himself into the in-goal, he can do whatever he likes. That's why players don't get called for double movements on half-way.

That is the rule, it's a try. It's a similar one to the one scored by Hazem El-Masri and Craig Fitzgibbon in NRL Grand Finals.

Try, no question.

The Hape one, be nice to get a side on angle rather than one from the corner flag. Mike Stephenson commentating is like grinding your face with a blunt orbital sander. f**king annoying.

Having seen the highlights yesterday I don't have a problem with it. I was more bothered about chasers being level with the kicker. It's not soccer and you're allowed to be level you have to be BEHIND the kicker. e.g. Hape for his first and Whatuira for his.
