Clubs were given a briefing on how an annual territorial draft of 18-year-old players, opposed by clubs including Brisbane, Sydney Roosters and Parramatta, could work for 2006. Details will be given to the clubs later this month and the issue would be discussed at a meeting of club officials in February before a possible vote by the NRL partnership committee. Don't know if I like this idea of a draft. Not fair that clubs nurture their young and upcoming junior stars only for them to be thrown into a pile whereby players drafted out to other clubs. Surely clubs whom have a strong junior development would be given preference over others whom simply steal from others and have virtually no juniors.
Strange the roosters are opposed to it as I thought they had no juniors as to speak.
