Dragons Accept Criticism & Begin Work On 2017

There is so much fallout from this. Not only is season 2017 written off, memberships will no doubt recede, sponsors will disappear, but we also have a number of players off contract the end of 2017 and there is a number of quality players available for 2018. How are we to be active in the 2018 market if we do not know who the head coach is? Are we to expect Mary's extension announcement after our first win in 2017? This decision has the potential to cripple us for years.

Disgraceful.
They put together this new committee but somehow before the committee has a chance to do anything the club already announces McGregor will continue as coach...wtf?
So the committee already will be doing their job without the ability to make the most important decision ??

I follow the forum pretty closely but rarely post. Have to comment on this decision though. Reminds me of the definition of insanity, you know, do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. i am pretty sure one of you used that to describe our attack this year. Just Seems to sum up the whole club. Oh, and the only thing committees are good for is to share the blame when things go sour. Now that we are stuck with this decision I really hope Mary proves us wrong.

Listening but not hearing, looking but not seeing.
This is really just a slap in the face and a "suck it up" approach.
Many boardrooms take this approach when issues exist. They rely on the "time" factor. What i mean by that is by ths time 2017 starts all will he forgotton mixed with the expectations of a new season afresh. The reliance on us, who they consider to be no more than illiterate tribal morons who will follow the team regardless and turn up with the expectations of winning. And when we dont the myriad of excuses will role out just like this year. And so it goes on.
It's 6 months before the season starts again, plenty of time for us to forgive and forget. Plus with off-season the focus will be miniscule. This is what their relying on.
Dragons fans and supporters have no say and are not heard as we are no more than puppets in their game of "wealth".

What a joke. The coach is ultimately responsible for the team's performances and all the excuses in the world cannot cover up the fact that the performance of players across the board have gone backwards.

No way will I be rejoining the club until the man responsible for the poor performance is replaced or until the team performance is of a quality to convince me that he has some idea of how to get the best out of the players, and ultimately have the team playing a style of play that can generate some pride for our long suffering supporters.

The fact that JD and Heady led competitive and successful teams is no reflection on the head coach, because the firsts were so bad it stands in stark contrast to his complete failure.

To watch the flair, subtlety and imaginative selections of JD with the Cutters show how clueless McGregor is.

The rest of the press release is just window dressing and BS.

Does the decision to form the new committee mean the board has finished the previously mentioned end of season review?
Or was that just put in the too hard basket, with the easier option forming committee of scapegoats that they can fire after the failure of next season, and then the board can pat themselves on the back again for taking such stern action of firing the team they hired a season earlier..

Its understandable when the club is in debt to the NRL to the tune of $6mil, they probably can't afford to pay him out.

This is absolutely disgraceful!!
Love that the junior teams are doing so well and this should put us in a good position for the future but why would they stay to play for a coach that can't motivate the players and has the same game plan week in week out. Will see them leave to play for a team that has a winning culture.

And then when results are shit doust will blame the committee. He already has his scapegoats ready.

They can't afford not to pay him out. Memberships, crowds and sponsorships will all be down next season. They could have even said he would be removed from the head coaching role and promoted JD and the majority would almost see that as acceptable. Or think outside the square, crowdfund Marys sacking. It would have support.

Many a year ago there lived a chap by the name of Pa Kettle ( I am sure that most of the elder statesmen of this forum would remember him ) , anyway he lived in a old run- down farm .

Once it was the best around , however because of his laziness it had become an absolute dump . Regardless of what his long suffering wife , Ma Kettle , said to him , he just would not listen and so the place fell to ' rack and ruin .

His favourite saying was - " Always put off until tomorrow , what you can do today ! " .
Sounds to me that is also the way that the officials of our once great club think .
