That he is.

Game plans will be written on drink coasters too.

Now who can forget those pressers. Riverting stuff.

Paranoia will be the new cool aid for the gong........remember injuries aren't real injuries if you don't tell anyone about them.

(he stopped the fans and members getting injury reports from the club staffs)

You guys will probably love him.
Are you being negative about a former coach?

Griffin is a good appointment for the Dragons - I wasn't a massive fan, and don't know if he has the ability to take them to a premiership, but they'll be fit and not give up.

But, I think the big news out this thread is being lost... IBM IS BACK!!!!!!

ALERT: Panther fan reporting in.

Good decision. He gets results. Probably won't bring a premiership to the Dragons but will get things started. Kinda like the guy who peels the potatoes at your local fish and chippery.

Length of the deal is very smart. If it doesn't work out its an easy sack/don't re-sign.

I've got my suspicions the two year deal has been done so Dean Young has more time to learn the ropes under Anthony Griffin. And then potentially take over as head coach. It has been reported this has been considered a potential option.

Dragons with a two year deal has all sorts of options in what direction they can go. Including sticking with Griffin if they are happy the way the team is travelling.

@martielang has a new 2nd team. Griffdawg will be a step forward for the Dragons, he will get them fit at least.

My second team is Sione Katoas (c) Bulldogs. Dragons 3rd.

I'm sure there was a middle ground between what Gus is saying & what Hook is saying but f**k me, the way Gus & co. are throwing their toys, makes me think that middle is closer to Sir Hooks side.

The hatchet job from I think it was Crawley last week was disgusting. I wasn't a huge Hook fan, but he is better than that. I think he was good for us to get a bit of steel in the team, but he was never going to take the next step.

No, the Dragons were not that stupid to hand out a 5 year contract (unlike the Broncos). Griffin has been appointed on a 2 year deal.

Source: https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/09/07/dragons-name-griffin/

It says in Newscorp that its a two year deal, with a third year option in the clubs favor. It still won't quieten the skeptical fans suggesting Anthony Griffin will get a three year extension after one year.

I agree with some of that skepticism though. This obsessions from clubs giving coaches extensions when there is a year left on the coaches contract is got to stop.

Exactly. So much can change in two years. He might be the right guy long-term, or Dean Young, or some other coach who might be about to make a name for themselves (Seibs?).

Its good business.

Gus arguing with Hook in public at a trial game was a disgrace from both. It does show both in the wrong

I think Griffin is an excellent appointment. The fact that he was still available while absolute flogs like Nathan Brown, Trent Barrett and potentially Kevvie Walters (lol@broncos) get snapped up is just beyond me.
As much as I would have preferred griffin to brown, I’d rather not have the shitfight of griffin and gould working together.

He's as exciting as a table cloth with the charisma of a straightened paperclip.

But he's a break from the utter crap we've had. And a boring 54% win ratio is certainly better than the last decade of utter tripe.

Look at the record;

Inexperienced / insider coaches;
Craig Young
Andrew Farrar
Nathan Brown
Steve Price
Jowls McGregor
Dean Young (admittedly 2 games but assistant to Jowls before)

17 seasons; No grand finals. No minor premierships. 8 semi final series

Experienced / outsider coaches;
Harry Bath
Roy Masters
Ted Glossop
Brian Smith
David Waite
Wayne Bennett

24 seasons; 3 premierships. 7 grand finals. 4 minor premierships. 15 finals series appearances.

So he's good with the peeler but can't be trusted with a sharp knife?

This is an astute appointment IMO.

He will clean the joint up and get the players playing for him. Not sure he has that premiership winning edge but the next coach after him will have a very competitive side to work with.

Correct.

He is in the engine room shovelling coal, the backbone as such. But its the commander who directs the ship into safer waters.
