Couldn't resist going into enemy territory after the Sharks debacle against the Bulldogs and, as I suspected, the Sharks faithful are in uncivil war over Dugan insisting on not playing on the wing and Xerri being shunted out there when he is the most promising centre in the game, the unerring Kyle Flanagan being dropped for the erring Shaun Johnston whose goal kicking bloopers cost them the game, Townsend being unable to play with Johnston as they are both dominant half backs, Matt Moylan being overrated --it was simply bliss- particularly Dugan blowing up. Makes our decision to get rid of him seem even better.

Good therapy when our all our talk if of a non performing team with a crap coach.

I have to say, Cronulla signing Dugan for 700K over four years is a massive blunder. lol I am so happy he didn't accept our offer of 750K a season.

I think Cronulla are better off with Xerri at centre too.
I think you will find it was more than 700K...like about 100K more
Our offer was around 700K

The Sharks don't have anywhere near the problems we have.
They lost on the weekend because they were ambushed and didn't show up.
I actually think their spine had the worst game I've seen in my life from such talented players.
But make no mistake, it was a blip for them and any team would fear playing the sharks because they are capable of beating all of them.
Dragons on the other hand are just a speedbump for the top teams.

Johnston for all his brilliance falls short on a lot of occasions. Thank god he’s not playing for us or else there would be a thread to challenge the sack McGregor one:laughing::laughing:

Yes, as much as you might want new players signed, who you select , how much you pay and contract duration is a big factor in managing your cap.Big contracts for the likes of Dugan , Johnston, Packer , Boyd etc can really come and bite you on the arse.We as a club have generally avoided this and credit to them for not getting into that position.

Yea, you really need to know what your getting before committing long term. For example, just imagine SGI if we would have signed Bennett for 5 years instead of 3 and keeping players like Boyd, Scott, Smith, Morris and Merrin. Maybe Bennett would have found good replacements for Gasnier, Cooper, Hornby and Young.

Dugan was very good for us, definately gave us value for money and saved / won us, many a game during his time with us. However, the timing to let him leave was impeccable.

Moylan was always a one season wonder and lacks any backbone in the hard stuff.
Bit of a princess, really.

Johnston is spasmodic at the best of time. Brillant one day, in the doghouse the next. All playmakers can be off at times. Only the very best can 'keep it up' all the time.
