Dragons Team Rd 2

I go for the Dragons, and the players that have been chosen to wear the jersey. And seeing Widdop is our captain, I support him 100%.

Which team will you support if and when Benji plays elsewhere?

So in other words you don't support Widdop because he is a good player and a good playmaker (what the team needs from a 5/8), but merely because he is the captain (after Benji knocked back the position)? That's just great!

Is your real name Gareth?

I will continue to support the Dragons but there are caveats:

1. If Widdop continues to show he is a s**t playmaker, as he has for 2 seasons and 1 game.

2. The team continues to struggle or at least not reach its potential as a result of not having a good playmaker in the team, like with Barrett.

3. Mary sticks with him regardless just like Brown did with Barrett, game after game, season after season.

I will still support the Dragons but I will be in Objective View's Mary-hating camp in the time it took Barrett to show his excellent playmaking by catching and passing 5 meters before the line with the enemy defence swarming all around Gaz and Cooper or taking the ball to the line himself without even looking like he may pass and meekly surrender to the enemy defence. Just as he did week after week, season after season.

Having said all that, I hope Widdop proves me wrong. I will gladly apologize to BrissyRedV if it happens (not just one game, thought that would be a start) but it has been 2 seasons and 1 game so I won't hold my breath. That isn't if he plays well, which he often does, but if he does what the team needs and shows good playmaking ability.

How can you say that you have pointed out facts when the majority of your last half a dozen posts have been subjective?

I have raised many points of fact again and again that refute your posts and all you can come up with is calling us geniused and that your opinion is widdop and Barrett were shit play makers. The facts are, widdop is contracted to us for 2017, benji is not. Both are premiership winning 5/8s. Widdop is captain, benji is not. Widdop is younger and less injury prone.

I was referring to the fact about how the team fared when Benji didn't play last season and how the team fared in the one game Widdop didn't play last season.

Well there is your error right there! Developing an argument with looking at all the facts and in isolation ie. The opposition, other injuries, small sample reference base and a multitude of other variables, will always lead to errors! How you somehow made this about Widdop and Benji is impressive seeing as my original post was in reference to Dugans and Mann's positions in the team and our attacking structure.

If that were my criteria for supporting a player, I'd have posters of JT and Cronk all over my wall and I'd be a Cowboys or Storm fan.

End of the day, Widdop has been anointed our long term 5/8 and captain so he'll always have my support, no matter how good you think he is. If they gave the gig to Benji, I'd support him just as much. But they have made their choice.

If the support of your team is only dependent on the players they keep/recruit, that's up to you.

They asked Benji to take the gig but he thought it was disrespectful to players who have been with the team much longer and so declined. A really decent gesture in my opinion even if I disagree with it.

Don't try and misconstrue my words. You are not smart enough.

The performance of the team is dependent on my support for the players and coaching staff within.

If you support individual players above the performance and ability of the team, that's up to you.

As a playmaker, Widdop doesn't need to be a Cronk or JT. He does however need to take the ball to the line and keep the enemy guessing as to whether he will pass it and if so, to whom or whether he will run himself.

There are many variables in every game, in every second of the game but what I pointed out was the fact. How we got here is easy. You seem to blame everyone and everything on the poor attack except Widdop.

And due to the small sample size and quality of opposition it has distorted those "facts". That, being the point and the error in your judgement.

Fine. The data isn't perfect but it is the best we have to go on. And really, insofar the performance of the team without Benji last season, the data is pretty convincing to anyone looking at it objectively.

The difference between you and I is that I don't find anything about losing, amusing:x.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't find the loss funny at all. My wife wanted me to sleep in the spare room on Monday because I was swearing so much after the game!!!

The amusing part is that there are now 2 guys to describe themselves as objective on this forum, and I'm yet to see either of them say anything object at all!

(Although to be fair to you, if we are comparing objectivity you are all over OV, just not when it comes to Widdop).

That's it. Disregard the facts by using laughing emoji:crazy::crazy:. Well done.

I disregard your facts because they are wrong and not objective, but subjective. At least the facts on my side of the argument have a base and are true and not open to interpretation.

You are not looking at it objectively. In the games Benji didn't play last year (but Widdop did) the team was a shambles and this was demonstrated on the scoreboard. True or false?
